100 Thieves announce Sean Gares as the new Head of FPS

100 Thieves has officially announced that Sean "seangares" Gares has re-joined as the Head of FPS as the team heads into the VCT 2026 season.

Sean Gares played an integral role in helping construct 100 Thieves' current VALORANT lineup before his announcement. This will be Sean Gares’ second stint with 100 Thieves. While short, his first tenure with the team, which came midway through the VCT 2022 season, was successful.

His expertise in FPS helped the team rebuild a new lineup that qualified them for VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul. He will be looking to make his second tenure with the organization just as successful as his first, as he sets his sights on helping the team qualify for their second VALORANT Champions.

Who is Sean Gares?

Sean Gares is a FPS legend who has previously served as a professional Counter-Strike player, a VALORANT analyst, and an esports coach. Most recently, he served as the Head of FPS for Shopify Rebellion, where he played an integral part in helping their Tier-2 VALORANT team establish itself as a top contender in the scene during the VCL 2024 season and parts of the 2025 season. With years of experience in FPS, it will be interesting to see how Sean Gares will move forward into the VCT 2026 now a part of 100 Thieves.

As for 100 Thieves, this change marks a shift in philosophy for the VALORANT team, particularly since the introduction of VCT franchising. While the organization experienced some success by winning VCT 2024 - Americas Stage 1, the team has not returned to the VALORANT Champions since Sean Gares left the organization. Now that he is back, it will be interesting to see if the team can make its way back to the top of VCT Americas with him leading the FPS division.
