d00mbros steps down from Fnatic coaching staff due to health problems
It has only been a month since Fnatic announced its VALORANT division was making some changes to its coaching staff, but they are being forced to change up the staff again due to unforeseen circumstances.
Lingering health problems
According to Fnatic's assistant coach Erik "d00mbr0s" Sandgren, he will be stepping away from the main coaching staff due to ongoing health issues that are preventing him from traveling to Germany to be with the team. He will be supporting the team as much as he can remotely, but Fnatic has officially announced that Scuttt will be taking over as assistant coach for VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - EMEA Stage 1.
The new coach has been working with the team since mid-March, and will continue to help spearhead their efforts going into Stage One. Scutt was a staff member on BBL Esports and impressed Fnatic management. BBL even managed to beat Fnatic during VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - EMEA Kickoff, further exemplifying his capabilities as a coach.
Additionally, the team has hired Philipp "Szed" Schickor as a VALORANT performance coach. He is a sports psychologist who has worked as a performance coach for Team Avalus' DotA 2 roster, and has experience in traditional sports as well.
He has a great academic and professional background as well as being someone who sees team culture in the same way that we do. I think we will overall be a much more prepared and consistent team with this constellation of staff.
Fnatic has struggled to reach the same heights as they've seen over the last few years, but have been plagued with off-stage issues that have prevented them from playing at full strength. For example, the team's talented initiator Leo "Leo" Jannesson has been sidelined with health problems since June 2024, and now, they must re-adjust with a new assistant coach due to health problems.
