New Waylay bug is making her even more of a hassle to handle on defense

If you were worried about dealing with VALORANT’s newest agent Waylay as a sentinel, add another reason to the list with this new bug that has been discovered. Sorry, Cypher mains, you gotta hope for a quick fix, because this glitch makes your trips almost useless against the high-flying duelist.

Cypher rendered useless against Waylay

In the bug, Waylay is able to disable Cypher’s trip wires by using her Refract ability. Waylay’s entire ability kit is very fast-paced and hard to deal with if you are holding a site, but her Refract is a get-out-of-jail-free card that allows her to dive into a fight and escape virtually unscathed.

Using Refract drops a beacon of light on the floor that Waylay can choose to teleport back to within the ability’s time frame. She becomes invulnerable if she activates Refract again as she zips back to the beacon of light that was placed on the floor. As a result, if Waylay uses Refract and runs into a Cypher trip, she can activate Refract again and disable that trip that she ran into.

That tripwire can still be seen and will appear to be active to both the Cypher and enemies, but the opposing team can safely run across them without activating them. It is a broken interaction that will hopefully be fixed soon, since Cypher’s will be practically useless against a team composition with Waylay, since she can essentially clear tripwires for her team safely.

Waylay is already a menace to deal with as a sentinel, since she can fly over most setups with her Light Speed ability, can dive anyone holding an angle. She is a nightmare to face off against, since she is the ultimate duelist. She dives in and creates a ton of space for her allies, while attacking at unexpected angles. Players must get very creative about how they set up on defense, but if these bugs continue to show up, they’ll have no chance at defending their respective sites against a good Waylay.
