With a surprising performance over G2 Esports, OG LDN Utd have won their opening game at VCT 2022 - EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. M3 Champions are the second winners of the day after taking down Acend.

G2 Esports vs OG LDN Utd

In the first match of the day, the team with the most circuit points of the tournament, G2 Esports faced the least in the field, OG LDN Utd. The Lithuanian esports organization selected Haven to start things off. G2 Esports won the first round after an impressive post-plant performance as they successfully defused the bomb. Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas and Aaro "hoody" Peltokangas secured four kills in the round with the Finnish Breach grabbing the last two kills before defusing the bomb. However, OG played the upcoming rounds perfectly and wiped every G2 Esports possible two rounds in a row. Until the end of the half, G2 grabbed three more rounds but OG’s attacks were superior as they had the lead after the first half, 8-4. The only Polish member of the roster, Michał "MOLSI" Łącki put on a show with Raze in his hands, holding a 1.86 rating and grabbing 17 kills in total, five of them were first bloods. OG’s Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius helped him with 12 kills and a 1.37 rating. On the side of G2, Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas tried his best on defense with a 1.12 rating. The second half started with OG LDN’s dominant defensive performance. First, they defused the bomb to win the pistol round and won three rounds more to reach the 12-round point. G2 Esports won one more round until the end of the game to keep their hopes alive but they failed to go further. OG dominated the second half and won the game after 18 rounds, 13-5. MOLSI finished the game holding a 1.70 rating and a 2.09 K/D.

Second map was Ascent, G2 Esports’ map pick. Again, G2 won the opening pistol round with Oscar Cañellas "m1xwell" Colocho’s 2-kill Chamber performance. OG LDN bounced back by winning the first gun round and Lukas "feqew" Petrauskas stepped up in the fourth round with an ace, scoring 1354 points. The Lithuanian esports organization sat behind the wheel in the later stages of the first half and just like the first map, they again had the lead with a score of 8-4 against G2. The Lithuanian Chamber, feqew, was a one-man army with a 2.34 rating and 19 kills on defense. He carried his team on his shoulders and made a difference for OG. G2 made a good start to the second half by winning the pistol round and the next round but they failed to defend the bomb sites until the end of the game. OG won five rounds in a row to complete the sweep and reach the Upper Bracket Semi Finals of the tournament. feqew had 26 kills at the end of the game with a 2.01 rating.

    M3 Champions vs Acend

Both teams had made roster changes before the match and it was time to show their new lineups on their way to İstanbul. The first map of the series was Split, Acend’s pick. M3 Champions had a great performance in the early stages of the competition. They did not let Acend win a single round for six rounds in a row, letting them plant the bomb only once but things changed as the game continued. The half was separated into two as Acend won the remaining six rounds and tied the game before the second half. Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin’s Viper came in handy for M3C as he had the best rating on his team with a 1.41 and Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov followed him with a 1.34 rating. Acend’s Ondřej "MONSTEERR" Petrů kept his team in the game with a 1.27 rating and 12 kills. Acend’s defense was a lot better than their opponents. They won the first four rounds of the second half and got closer to winning the game. Despite losing a couple of rounds in the second half, Acend won the game with a score of 13-9 and started the series with an important victory. Vakaris "vakk" Bebravičius and Travis "L1NK" Mendoza were the best performing pieces for the European team. The Lithuanian Breach finished the game holding a 1.37 rating with 22 kills.

The second map of the competition was Breeze. Despite making a good start on the defensive side, Acend failed to keep their performance up throughout the first half. M3 Champions had many successful attacks in which they managed to execute their strategies in the later stages of the half, They won the last four rounds to lead the half with a score of 7-5. Bogdan "sheydos" Naumov led his team with a 1.0 rating on KAY/O. M3C continued to dominate in the second half by winning the pistol round. Acend on the other hand answered back by winning the second round, thanks to MONSTERRR’s positioning. Even though the competition was pretty close, M3C sealed the deal by closing out the map, 13-10. The Russian team managed to force another map in the series by winning Breeze. Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov secured 22 kills on Jett, holding a 1.28 rating.

The decider map of the series was Fracture. Acend won the opening round but M3C’s answer wasn’t late. The Russian team won seven rounds in a row in the first half. Despite losing a couple of rounds, their defense was pretty good as they grabbed eight rounds in the first half. Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin pulled out a Chamber, almost out of nowhere, and had a massive performance on defense. The Russian player held a 2.08 rating while grabbing 18 kills. Mehmet Yağız "cNed" İpek had the best rating on the side of Acend but he was nowhere near the opposing Chamber with a 1.05 rating and 9 kills. M3 Champions dominated the second half and won four rounds in a row to reach the 12-round point. Acend tried to stay in the competition by winning two rounds but this did not stop the Russian team. M3C won the 19th round to close out the series, 13-6. nAts was a monster, holding a 2.26 rating with 32 kills to top his game.
