sinatraa returns to VALORANT by joining ENVY as substitute for the off-season
Former Sentinels star Jay "sinatraa" Won has made a surprise return to competitive VALORANT, joining Envy as a substitute for the 2025 off-season. The move was officially revealed during the FTWD - 2025 invitational event, sponsored by ASUS and Intel. The tournament featured four teams - Envy, QoR, FURIA, and We Almost Did It, which fielded former Evil Geniuses player Derrek "Derrek" Ha.
Returning to the Server After a Long Hiatus
Sinatraa’s participation in the event marks his first appearance in an official competition since January 20, 2023, when his team Untamable Beasts competed in the VCT 2023 - Challengers League North America - Stage 1 - Last Chance Qualifier. That squad, which included Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen, Jared "zombs" Gitlin, and streamer Connor "prod" Moran, fell 2-0 to unfazed - a team headlined by former Sentinels coach Shane "Rawkus" Flaherty.
Notably, Sinatraa’s last tier-1 match dates back to February 24, 2021, when he represented Sentinels in the VCT 2021 - Stage 1 - North America - Challengers 2. In a twist of fate, his final tier-1 opponent back then was none other than ENVY, the very team he now temporarily joins.
A Triumphant Showing with ENVY
Subbing in for ion2x, Sinatraa helped ENVY secure the title at For Those Who Dare 2025. ENVY won over FURIA in a thrilling grand final series, closing the third map on Split in dominant fashion to seal a 2-1 victory. While his individual form impressed many viewers, the organization has yet to confirm whether he will continue with the team beyond the off-season.
Despite Sinatraa’s undeniable skill and popularity, his controversial past still continues to shadow his competitive aspirations. With ENVY being a relatively new contender in the VCT ecosystem, signing him permanently could invite unwelcome backlash. Still, fans celebrated his return, filling social media timelines with nostalgia and excitement to see one of VALORANT’s original stars back on the server, even if just for one tournament.
