VALORANT brings back Snowball Fight for winter 2025
Riot Games has announced on the official VALORANT X account that Snowball Fight is making its return for the 2025 holiday season. After five years since its first release in 2020, one of the game’s most beloved festive limited-time modes is sliding back into action, and this year, it’s bigger, better, and more chaotic than ever.
The Return of a Fan-Favorite
Originally launched during the winter of 2020, Snowball Fight quickly became a community favorite for offering a break from the intensity of competitive play. The 5v5 team deathmatch–style mode replaces VALORANT’s tactical gunfights with lighthearted snow-slinging mayhem.
The first team to reach 50 kills wins the match, with players using a Snowball Launcher capable of firing one snowball at a time. Each successful hit delivers 150 damage, often resulting in hilarious mid-air knockouts. Matches typically last around eight minutes, rewarding participants with 750 XP, plus an additional 150 XP for victory.
Unique Power-Ups and Rewards
During each game, players can collect special orbs that grant unique abilities:
- Growball: Snowballs expand mid-flight, increasing hit potential.
- Rapid Fire: Infinite magazine with faster firing speed.
- Ricochet: Allows snowballs to bounce off surfaces.
- Skates: Boosts movement speed and jump height.
While the original 2020 event rewarded players with the exclusive Snow Bro gun buddy, Riot is upping the stakes this year with all-new rewards and expanded gameplay.
New Additions for 2025
Unlike the previous version that was exclusive to Icebox, Snowball Fight 2025 will be playable across all maps. Players will have permanent access to skates throughout the match, and squads will earn bonus XP compared to solo players.
Alongside the returning game mode, Riot will also launch an End of Year Event Pass which will reward players with the new stickers, several themed player cards, and potentially the Gingerbread Man Flex Item, making it a must-complete pass for collectors.
Snowball Fight goes live on December 11, 2025, though Riot has yet to confirm whether the mode will remain as a limited-time winter event or a permanent addition.
