After taking down EDward Gaming in a stellar showing, T1 have set up a date with G2 Esports at the Grand Finals of VCT 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025 in what promises to be thrilling conclusion to the tournament.

Both T1 and G2 will be walking up to the Grand Finals stage of a Masters tournament for the first time in each team's history on March 2nd. For VALORANT, this means that we are set to have a new Masters champion when all is said and done no matter which team is able to conquer their opposition.

T1 take the long way to the Finals

T1's loss to EDG early into the playoffs meant that the squad was forced to run through the entire Lower Bracket to get to the finals. This means that while G2 have played a total of four playoffs maps to get to this point, T1 were forced to play a whopping ten maps instead; more than double their rivals' count.

Despite the grueling nature of their run so far, T1's grind through the Lower Bracket will also mean that the team has maximized practice time prior to their bout against G2. Now, it's up to T1 to show the world that the benefits of momentum outweigh the drawbacks of fatigue.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best, though; a statement that both T1 and G2 both know full well. In fact, the last match that both teams played were against the reigning VCT 2024 - Champions 2024 winners of EDG. In their match in the Lower Bracket Finals, T1 looked confident throughout as they took down the champs in a fairly comfortable 3-1 series to give the team exactly the boost they needed before loading up to play the biggest match of the tournament.

G2: A relentless start to the season

No team in the world has been as dominant to start the 2025 VCT Season as G2 Esports. After running away with the VCT 2025 - Americas Kickoff, the team showed up to Bangkok as one of the biggest favorites to win it all. So far at the tournament, the team hasn't let down.

G2 has now swept their last three consecutive series at Masters Bangkok, coming into the finals high on confidence. This confidence was in full display in G2's match against EDG to book the Americas squad their ticket to the finals. Despite EDG's individual prowess, G2 looked one step ahead every step of the way as the Chinese side struggled to get any momentum going in the series.

Trent and iZu have killed it so far at the Masters Bangkok event.

Revenge for Shanghai

The last time the two teams met was during the very first match of VCT 2024 - Masters Shanghai. There, T1 pushed G2 all the way to overtime on the final map of the series before falling just short of the mark in a heartbreaking loss for the team. Following their defeat at the hands of G2, T1 went on to be eliminated from the tournament by Leviatán before getting to play even a single playoffs series.

The only piece of that T1 team left on the squad now is Ham "iZu" Woo-joo after the team's busy OFF//SEASON. Despite this, T1 as an organization will not be quick to forgive and forget the team's costly loss to G2 at Shanghai. Now, T1 is coming to collect at Bangkok.

Attack vs Defense: Something's gotta give

The Grand Finals of Masters Bangkok are expected to put an electrifying display of attacking prowess vs defensive strategy according to our own team stats page.

T1 have proven to be far and away the best attacking team at the tournament, putting up a ridiculously high 65.69% round win rate on the attack side. Driven around their squad's individual explosiveness, attacking gives T1 the freedom and agency they need to take a hold of each round.

Meanwhile, G2's methodical and teamplay oriented approach to the game serve them best when defending. In fact, G2 hold the highest round win rate while defending with an equally impressive 62.50%.

G2 and T1 stats at Masters Bangkok.

Now, it will be interesting to see which team will overpower the other when the two squads clash on their preferred side of the map on each and every map of the Masters Bangkok Grand Finals.

Pistol rounds: The key to victory?

G2 come into the finals holding the lowest pistol round win rate of all playoff teams at Bangkok. The team has only been able to claim 40.91% of pistol rounds throughout the tournament, one of the few aspects of G2's game which could use some work.

Unfortunately for G2, T1's pistol round win rate at Bangkok before the finals is at 62.50% after winning 20 of their 32 pistol rounds played; a far higher number than that of the Americas squad. For G2 to try and keep an even economic playing field in the finals, the team will have to up their game in this specific aspect of the game against a T1 team that shines brightest when the game is at its most volatile state.

Prediction: A first time for everything

T1's run at Masters Bangkok has been impressive to behold from start to finish, but it does have to finish. G2 have looked so incredibly solid since the start of the year that it's tough imagining a scenario in which the team leaves Bangkok with a trophy.

The Pacific's side are great at creating chaos in their games, a strength that might come in handy against a G2 team that is used to having things play out in certain ways. Though we expect T1 to throw a spanner in the works during the course of the finals, G2 come into the series looking like a far more seasoned team, and one that should come to be remembered as the first Ascension team to win a Masters event.

Prediction: G2 takes the series 3-1.

Ultimately, though, we expect an explosive series to cap off a memorable Masters Bangkok tournament. Regardless of the outcome, whichever team is left standing in the end will have made VALORANT history.
