VALORANT Patch 13.08 brings changes to Corrode and a new map pool rotation
VALORANT Patch 13.08 reworks Corrode and brings it back into the map pool alongside Bind, while Ascent and Split are removed from the rotation. Riot Games has also shared data on penalties issued during Act 5 for botting, cheating, AFK behavior, and other forms of toxicity.
Act 5 Penalties
Act 5 has officially ended, and Riot Games has shared data on its actions against disruptive players in the VALORANT community. The graphic below represents accounts that received bans of three days or longer during Act 5 for violating in-game conduct rules. Between August 18 and October 1, Riot banned:
- 171,000+ cheaters
- 54,000+ botters
- 76,000+ for rank manipulation (boosters, boostees, hitchhikers, wintraders, and others)
- 74,000+ for toxicity or comms abuse
- 288,000+ for repeated AFK/gameplay abuse
- 14,000+ for using streamsniping and/or instalocking tools
There is still work to be done to improve the competitive environment in VALORANT's ranked queues. Players also have a role to play, and Riot encourages them to report disruptive behavior and submit tickets whenever they encounter such situations.
Introducing Map Rating
The End of Game screen is getting a new addition that provides players with more information about their performance on individual maps. The new Map Rating feature tracks players’ proficiency on each map over time, using a rating from 0 to 500 and a letter grade ranging from C to S.
This rating is based on four primary stats:
- Overall Win Rate
- Attacker Win Rate
- Defender Win Rate
- Performance Score
Recent matches will have a greater impact on Map Rating and its underlying stats than older ones, meaning that improving these stats will also increase a player's rating. Map Rating information will remain private and cannot be viewed by other players.
The feature will be available in Competitive and Premier, with all players starting from scratch at launch, as historical matches will not count toward their ratings.
Performance Score Updates
Following the initial launch of the new system replacing Average Combat Score (ACS), Riot Games has expressed satisfaction with how Performance Score recognizes players' contributions throughout a match, rather than focusing solely on kills. However, some edge cases revealed that certain metrics were weighed too heavily.
In Patch 13.06, Riot increased the impact of damage, adjusted kills, and adjusted deaths on Performance Score, including first kills and first deaths. The patch also introduced adjustments to Chamber to better account for his utility usage.
Corrode Rework
After a year in VALORANT, Corrode is receiving several changes ahead of its return to the map pool in Patch 13.08.
A Site and B Site
Rotations have been taking too long due to Corrode’s large size. To address this, Riot Games is adjusting the paths from Defender spawn to the sites, allowing Defenders to rotate more quickly and safely:
- Adjusted Defender paths into the back of A Site and B Site to shorten rotations and help with retakes
On A Site, Riot has also adjusted the plant zone to make post-plant setups from A Link less effective.
Mid
Mid fights have often felt too unpredictable, something Riot Games aims to address with these changes. Attackers currently have to pass through a single choke point into Lower Mid, where Defenders can slow their advance by spamming through the half wall.
Riot is adjusting the wall and nearby cover to give Attackers more space to maneuver and clearer options for pushing toward A Link:
- Changed the Mid half wall to metal and moved it out one meter to reduce wall spam and allow attackers to sneak into A Link without being seen from Top Mid
- Moved the boxes at the back of Lower Mid toward B and added a jump-up
- Raised the wall in Lower Mid to prevent players from peeking over it from the relocated boxes
Map Pool Rotation
With these changes, Corrode will return to the Competitive and Deathmatch queues in Patch 13.08, alongside Bind. To make room for their return, Ascent and Split will be removed from the map rotation.
- Corrode and Bind - IN
- Ascent and Split - OUT
Riot Games has also addressed several bugs, with further details available in the official Patch Notes page. Meanwhile, the Range while Queuing feature is still being worked on and will remain disabled until the issue is fully resolved.
