Wo0t joins FUT Esports for VCT 2027 season
After spending three years as a key player for Team Heretics, Mert "Wo0t" Alkan is returning to the Turkish VALORANT scene after being announced as the latest addition to FUT Esports's roster for the 2027 season.
Wo0t ends three-year run with Team Heretics
In 2023, Wo0t emerged in Tier 1 as one of the most promising Turkish players in the scene, showcasing exceptional aim at just 17 years old. A year later, he came close to lifting two international trophies, but Team Heretics fell short on both occasions.
The two defeats made 2024 a heartbreaking year for the team. First, they fell to Gen.G Esports in the VCT 2024 - Masters Shanghai. Two months later, at the year's biggest international event, VCT 2024 - Champions 2024, history repeated itself. This time, Team Heretics lost the series to EDward Gaming, handing China its only international title to date.
However, Wo0t would eventually lift his first trophy with the team at the EWC - Esports World Cup 2025. To close out his journey with Team Heretics, he also helped the organization secure its first regional title at VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - EMEA Stage 1.
Although the rest of the season brought fewer results for the team, Wo0t leaves behind a significant legacy and an important place in the organization's history.
New destination: FUT Esports
Wo0t now embarks on a new challenge, returning to the region where his career began. The organization is still building its lineup, with only Eray "yetujey" Budak and Okan "KROSTALY" Alaçam confirmed alongside Wo0t so far.
As one of the eight partner teams selected for the region, FUT Esports has already secured its place in the VCT 2027: EMEA Kickoff.
