Apex Legends is constantly updated, and new features are added every season. A while back from now, Respawn Entertainment made some serious changes regarding the leveling system and added much more content.

When Apex Legends Season 14 launched on August 9, it brought a wave of excitement. This season introduced not just a new sniper-focused character, Vantage, but also significant updates to the well-known Kings Canyon map. More notably, it introduced changes to the game’s leveling system, specifically the addition of Prestige levels. Let’s take a look at what Prestige levels are in Apex Legends and give you all the details about it.

What are Prestige levels in Apex Legends?

Prestige levels in Apex Legends were introduced to acknowledge players who continued to play and progress after reaching the game’s initial maximum level cap. Previously, players could only reach level 500. After the introduction of Prestige levels, things got more intense and fun at the same time. Players who hit level 500 started earning new levels called Prestige levels. For every additional 500 levels they achieved, they earned new emblems. These emblems appear on the players' banners.

How many Prestiges are in Apex?

Initially, Apex Legends had set the level cap at 100. Players reached this level quickly and expressed a desire for more goals to achieve. In response, Respawn increased the cap to 500, allowing players to unlock up to 200 Apex Packs. Over time, even this new cap became insufficient for the most dedicated players. With the launch of Season 14, the level cap was increased again. Players could then prestige their account three times, effectively raising the maximum level to 2000. This adjustment meant players could unlock a total of 544 Apex Packs by advancing through levels naturally.

    Apex leveling system explained

In Apex Legends, players earn levels by gaining experience points (XP) through their performance in matches. The amount of XP they gained depens on how long they last, how many players they defeated, and whether they completed daily and weekly challenges. As players level up, it takes more XP to reach the next level, keeping the game challenging. When a player reaches level 500, their level reset to 1 in the next tier. This reset happens four times until they reach level 500 in tier 4. Players receive rewards like Legend Tokens and Apex Packs at various levels, which include some crafting metals at certain points.

What is the Apex max level?

With the changes introduced in Season 14, the maximum level a player could reach in Apex Legends was set at 2000. This level cap was divided into four tiers, each consisting of 500 levels. Each time players completed 500 levels, they started over at level 1 of the next tier. Each tier changed the appearance of the player's level badge. The badge’s color and design showed which tier a player had reached, adding a visual element to their profile that highlighted their achievements and game skills.

What are Prestige skins in Apex?

Prestige Skins in Apex Legends are special cosmetic items. They belong to the Mythic tier, the highest tier of in-game cosmetics. These skins are unique because they evolve as players complete specific challenges linked to each skin. There are three tiers of evolution for each Prestige Skin. Players unlock each tier by completing in-game challenges. These skins first appear during special events and are later available for purchase in the Mythic Store using Heirloom Shards. Once a player has unlocked a tier of a Prestige Skin, they can choose which version of the skin to display.

How to unlock Prestige Skin in Apex?

Players can get a Prestige Skin in two ways. One way is to open an Heirloom Shards Pack and use 150 Shards to buy the skin from the Mythic Store. Another way is to collect all 24 limited-time cosmetics from a Collection Event when a Prestige Skin is available. Both methods offer exclusive access to these high-level skins, enhancing the player's appearance and status in the game.

Why am I level 1 in Apex again?

If you’ve started playing Apex Legends on Steam and your progress seems to have disappeared or you find yourself at level 1, it could be a linking issue with your EA Account. First, check if your Steam account is correctly linked to your EA Account. If they aren’t linked, or if they're linked incorrectly, you’ll need to unlink and then relink the correct account. After logging in with the correct EA Account, your original progress should be restored.

By increasing the level cap and adding new challenges that scale with player achievement, Respawn Entertainment has addressed the desires of its player base. This focus on ongoing improvement and listening to player feedback highlights why Apex Legends continues to be a key game in the competitive scene. It will be interesting to watch how these updates affect player involvement and the overall game experience moving forward.

Does your apex level reset after 500?

Yes, your Apex Legends level resets after reaching 500 in a tier. When this happens, the game starts you back at level 1 in the next tier. Apex Legends has four total tiers, each going from level 1 to 500. You keep every badge, reward, and total experience you have earned, so only the visible level number changes
