Skins are a big part of Apex Legends. These items allow players to customize their characters and weapons, making each game feel more personal. This goes for almost all online games, but Apex has something special: there are too many skins. Cosmetics are not only skins, and there is more to uncover. Let’s take a look at Apex Legends skins, cosmetics, and more!

Skins in Apex Legends change how the characters, known as Legends, and their weapons look. Players can choose from up to eight skins for each Legend and weapon. These skins rotate each time you enter the game lobby. The skins help make your character look different but do not give any advantage in the game, which helps keep the competition fair.

What kinds of cosmetics are available in Apex Legends?

Apex Legends offers various cosmetic items that allow players to personalize their gameplay. These cosmetics are purely for visual enhancement and do not affect game balance. This guide explores the different types of cosmetics available in the game, detailing their features and uses.

    Legend Skins

Legend skins are the most noticeable cosmetics in Apex Legends. They change the appearance of the characters, or Legends, with different styles and themes:

    • Common Skins: These are basic and often just change the color of the Legend.
    • Rare Skins: These skins add unique textures to the Legend's appearance, making them stand out more.
    • Epic Skins: These are more vibrant and dynamic, with bold color changes and effects.
    • Legendary and Mythic Skins: The highest quality skins that completely transform the Legend's look, often including special animations.

    Weapon Skins

Weapon skins modify the look of guns and melee weapons. Like Legend skins, they come in various rarities, with the more rare skins offering more dramatic changes.

    Banners

Banners display a player’s achievements and are shown in several in-game scenarios, like when introducing squads:

    • Banner Frames: These range from simple designs in common frames to animated, elaborate ones in legendary and mythic frames.
    • Banner Poses: Poses show a Legend in various stances, from simple static poses in rare rarity to more animated poses in epic and mythic rarities.

    Emotes and Holosprays

Emotes and Holosprays are fun ways for players to express themselves during a game:

    • Emotes: These are animations where Legends can perform actions or gestures. Legendary emotes include complex animations or interactions with abilities.
    • Holosprays: These are holographic images that players can place around the game area. Legendary holosprays include moving animations.

    Finishers

Finishers are animations used to eliminate opponents stylishly. The more rare the finisher, the more elaborate the animation. Mythic finishers are particularly detailed and are usually linked to specific prestige skins.

    Skydive Emotes and Trails

These cosmetics are used during the initial drop from the aircraft at the start of the match:

    • Skydive Emotes: These are short animations that Legends can perform while skydiving, available only in epic rarity.
    • Skydive Trails: These replace the usual smoke with colorful, animated trails. These trails are often linked to achieving high ranks in competitive play or special skin sets.

    Quips

Quips are small voice lines that Legends say during matches. These can reflect their personality and are triggered by different actions:

    • Intro Quips: These are heard when a Legend is introduced at the start of a game.
    • Kill Quips: These are played when a Legend defeats an opponent, adding a personal touch to the victory.

    Stat Trackers and Badges

These items display statistics and achievements on a player’s banner, allowing them to showcase their skills and milestones.

    Additional Items

Other cosmetics include Music Packs, which change the music in the lobby and during the drop, and Stickers, which can be applied to health items for a customized look.

How do you get skins in Apex Legends?

Getting skins in Apex Legends is a fun part of the game. Here are the main ways you can get new skins for your Legends and weapons:

    Apex Packs

Apex Packs are like surprise boxes you can buy or earn by playing the game. Each pack gives you three items: skins, voice lines, or other decorations. The items can be common or very rare.

    Crafting

If you want a specific skin, you can make it yourself. As you play the game, you earn Crafting Metals. You can use these metals to create skins you choose from the game's menu. The cost in metals depends on how rare the skin is.

    Store Purchases

The game has a store that changes its items regularly. You can buy skins directly from this store using Apex Coins, the game's premium currency.

    Battle Pass

The game offers a Battle Pass with exclusive skins as rewards each season. You unlock these skins and other items as you play more and level up. The Battle Pass has a free track and a paid track, with the paid track offering more items. You need to pay a fee of $10 to get Battle Pass and if you want more, you can also buy the Premium Battle Pass bundle for $20.

    Special Events

Apex Legends often has special events with unique skins available for a limited time. You can get these skins by joining event challenges or buying them from the event's special store.

What is the rarest skin in Apex?

Some skins in Apex Legends are very rare because they were only available for a short time or hard to get. Here's a look at some of the rarest skins for a few popular champions:

    Night Terror (Wraith)

"Night Terror" is a legendary skin for Wraith that was available only during Season 1's Battle Pass. Its rarity stems from its limited availability, making it a treasure for those who were playing in the early days of Apex Legends. This skin outfits Wraith in a dark, spectral armor that matches her mysterious and elusive nature, making it a coveted item for collectors.

    Cyber Punked (Wattson)

The "Cyber Punked" skin, known for its iconic pink hair and cat ears, turns Wattson into a standout character on the battlefield. The "Cyber Punked" Wattson skin was unlocked by reaching level 50 in the Season 4 premium battle pass. This skin has not been available since, adding to its rarity and desirability. Wattson’s vibrant appearance with this skin makes her look more like a rebel punk rocker than a strategic engineer, which appeals to many players.

    From the Ashes (Lifeline)

"From the Ashes" is another rare skin, which was part of the Season 3 Battle Pass. It features Lifeline with a devilish design, perfect for Halloween. The limited-time availability of this skin makes it rare and a sought-after piece for those who wish to showcase a unique version of Lifeline.

    False Idol (Revenant)

Revenant's "False Idol" skin dresses him in a sleek gold and blue outfit that intensifies his already menacing look. The skin features a large, goat-like head that adds a mythical quality to his robotic form. Priced at 1,200 Crafting Metals or 1,800 Apex Coins, this skin reinforces the terror that Revenant instills in his enemies, making it clear that his presence on the battlefield is a sign of impending doom.

    The Revenger (Mirage)

Mirage’s "The Revenger" skin could make him pass for a flashy, intergalactic hero. Costing 1,200 Crafting Metals or 1,800 Apex Coins, this skin is all about standing out. Dressed in bright yellow, Mirage embodies confidence and charisma, ignoring the common tactics of stealth. This skin highlights his personality perfectly—flashy, audacious, and always the center of attention. In a game where staying hidden can be key, Mirage flaunts his presence, daring others to challenge him.
