Apex Legends October 2025 update reveals Peacekeeper nerfs and more
Respawn Entertainment has released a new Apex Legends update for October 2025. After a recent midseason update, this patch focuses on balancing weapons and Legends in Season 26 with Peacekeeper receiving one of the biggest changes. Here are all of the changes!
Apex Legends update nerfs Peacekeeper
The Peacekeeper receives the most attention in this update. Respawn reduces its power to make close-range fights more balanced. It used to be one of the strongest Apex weapons.
Changes to the Peacekeeper:
- Rechamber time between shots increased
- Magazine size reduced from 6 to 5 shells
These changes slow down how quickly players can deal damage. The shotgun still hits hard, but it now rewards accuracy instead of pure speed. Respawn explains that the Peacekeeper “outperforms other shotguns and close-range weapons by a sizable margin.”
The update aims to make fights between shotguns more fair. Players who use the EVA-8 or Mastiff should now have a better chance in close combat. Those who continue to use the Peacekeeper will need stronger timing and positioning to win their duels.

Sentinel Sniper Rifle returns to the loot pool
The Sentinel returns to the game after being disabled earlier in the season because of a bug. It now works correctly and once again charges shots with Shield Cells.
Its comeback gives long-range players more variety. The Sentinel has always been a favorite for those who prefer precision and control. It adds more depth to ranked matches and tournament play, where long-range fights often decide the outcome.
With the Sentinel back, players can expect more sniper activity across maps like Storm Point and Broken Moon. The return of this weapon also helps balance short- and long-range gameplay in general.

Respawn limits Alter’s Portals to reduce chaos
Alter, known for her strong mobility, receives limits on her Void Nexus ability. These changes reduce confusion during intense fights. Despite not being one of the most picked Apex characters, Alter still had a huge gamer base.
Alter’s changes include:
- Only one Void Nexus can exist in a match instead of two.
- Knocked players can no longer use the Nexus to escape.
- Teammates can still summon downed allies through the portal.
Respawn wants to keep Alter useful but prevent her from creating too much unpredictability. Players now need to plan when to deploy the Nexus and use it more strategically.
These adjustments make combat cleaner and more focused, especially in ranked and high-level lobbies where overlapping portals created unfair escapes.

Seer’s vision and scanning abilities are refined
Seer receives more changes as Respawn continues to balance recon Legends. His abilities now provide information without overwhelming other players.
Seer’s adjustments include:
- Exhibit no longer allows players to aim down sights while hovering.
- Lasting Beats now provides a short full-body scan when an enemy leaves the ultimate area.
These changes limit how much Seer can track opponents while keeping his tactical and ultimate skills relevant. Players still get valuable information but not as much as before.
This refinement makes Seer more balanced in both casual and competitive modes. Teams will still benefit from his tracking abilities, but opponents have a better chance to counter his ultimate.

Server lag and vehicle bugs no longer exist
The October update also improves gameplay stability. Respawn continues to fix issues that affected performance and movement.
Technical and gameplay fixes include:
- Better server performance, reducing slow-motion moments during matches
- Trident brake control reverted to its old keybind
- Visual indicator issue on Trident to be fixed in a later patch
- Camera bug fixed when entering a Trident
- Mad Maggie sprint speed corrected while using shotguns
These fixes make gameplay smoother and more consistent. The reduction of server lag improves combat responsiveness, especially during final circles and crowded team fights.
Respawn also confirms that more work is in progress to improve server reliability across all platforms.
Meta may evolve significantly
The new patch may look small, but it changes how players approach the game. The Peacekeeper’s slower fire rate opens space for other shotguns. The EVA-8 and Mastiff may rise in usage as players test new close-range setups.
The Sentinel’s return also shifts the weapon meta. Snipers and defensive teams now have a reliable long-range weapon again. At the same time, Alter’s and Seer’s reworks bring better balance to mobility and recon playstyles.
Respawn has already adjusted major Legends and weapons this season, including Ash, Caustic, Wingman, and RE-45 Burst. The developer’s steady updates show its ongoing effort to maintain fairness across all skill levels.
As Split 2 continues, players will see how these changes affect ranked and competitive play. The current direction keeps the game stable while allowing new strategies to develop.
