Veigar Abilities, Build, Runes & Guides in LOL

Viegar naturally stacks his damage which increases the more stacks he gets. This can be infinite in theory meaning the later the game goes the more likely Viegar is to absolutely one shot the whole enemy team.

With a relatively simple kit, Viegar is able to do this even on players who only just picked him up as he is very beginner friendly but still very strong, regardless of what level you play him at. With that in mind, this League of Legends guide focuses on Viegar as we explain his kit and advise how to play this potentially powerful champion. 

Passive: Phenomenal Evil Power

Viegar naturally generates a stack of this passive for every enemy champion he hits with one of his abilities, and five stacks every time he gets an enemy champion kill or assist.

For every stack that Viegar gets of Phenomenal Evil, he gains one ability power.

Q: Baleful Strike

Viegar shoots out a dark Bolt in the target direction dealing magic damage to the first two enemies that hits of up to 240 plus 65% of Viegar's AP.

If this ability kills an enemy it will generate one stack of his passive which is tripled against large minions and monsters, meaning it will generate three stacks for killing cannon minions or Jungle camps.

W: Dark Matter

Viegar summons down a ball of dark matter that does damage in the target location just after a one-second delay. This deals magic damage up to 305 plus 110% of Viegar's AP.

The natural cooldown of this ability is 8 seconds but the more stacks of Viegar's Passive, Phenomenal Evil Power, he has, the more the cooldown of this ability is reduced.

E: Event Horizon

Viegar summons a cage made of matter of the target location after a half-second delay.  this cage remains there for three seconds and any enemies that walk into one of the walls are not down and stunned for up to 2.5 seconds.

Each enemy can only be stunned by this ability once per cast.

R: Primordial Burst

Viegar has his ultimate as a point-and-click huge burst of dark energy which he launches at a target enemy champion dealing magic damage are up to 325 plus 75% of his AP.  This also increases by up to 100% based on the target's missing health, meaning the lower health the enemy champion is, and the more stacks of his Passive that Viegar has, the more damage this ability will do.

When was Viegar released in League of Legends?

Viegar is one of the few champions that has been in the game for nearly 15 years now. This is because he was designed and released in the Beta of League of Legends. He was released in Patch V0.8.22.115, which was released on July 24 2009.

Viegar didn't get his first skin in League of Legends until White Mage Veigar was released almost five months later on December 17, 2009.

Where is Viegar from in League of Legends?

Being a Yordle, we know very little about Viegar's actual background beyond the fact that he comes from Bandle City, as do all Yordles.

This is very much the case with every Yordle champion in League of Legends as Bandle City is designed to be a mysterious place that teleports around Runeterra, that no one apart from the Yordles knows how to get to.

As we just mentioned we know very little about Viegar's backstory,  this includes his exact age, and while some Yordles we do have more backstory for, Viegar is not one of them.

All we know is that he was born earlier than 100 BN,  meaning that he is at least 1098 years of age!

Viegar’s Voice Actor in League of Legends

Viegar’s Voice actor in League of Legends is Bob Beal, who is a relatively unknown voice actor, and Viegar is one of the few examples of an old champion who hasn't had their voice lines or VFX updated in 15 years, so the voice actor is still the same.

This means we know very little about Bob Beal, and whilst we love his voice Lines, he does not carry the same prestige the other newer champions’ voice actors do.

Why is Veigar so strong?

Veigar gets stronger during the game because of his passive. Each time he hits enemies with spells, he gains permanent ability power. This makes him more dangerous over time. In the late game, his damage becomes very high. Players who farm well and land his spells can carry fights easily.

Here are three reasons why Veigar deals high damage:

• Unlimited AP gain: His passive stacks ability power forever, so he scales better than most mages.
• Strong burst combo: He can use Q, W, and R together to kill low-health champions.
• Cage for control: His E creates a cage that can stun enemies, which makes it easier to land other skills.

Is Veigar evil in lore?

Veigar looks like a villain, but he has a sad backstory. He was once a kind Yordle. After being trapped and hurt by dark mages, he changed. Now he acts evil, but it feels more funny than scary.
