Vel'Koz is one of the most interesting Mage champions in League of Legends, and to master him you have to know him inside and out, so here is everything you need to know about Vel'Koz in League of Legends.
Looking in from the outside Vel'Koz looks like one of the hardest champions that you can play in League of Legends due to his abilities revolving around some form of math or Pi.
At first glance, this looks scary but when you break down Vel'Koz’s abilities he is an easy to pick up once you know the fundamentals - which is exactly what we are going to be teaching you here today! While he has been played as a Support, Vel'Koz is normally a Mid Laner who excels in poking down his laners and then all-inning them at half health or below.
Passive: Organic Deconstruction
Vel'Koz's abilities apply a stack of deconstruction fit 7 seconds to any enemies that they hit which is refreshed whenever Vel'Koz hits the enemy with an ability again or a basic attack.
Organic Deconstruction stacks up to three times with the third stack consuming them dealing up to 180 plus 60% of Vel'Koz's AP as bonus True Damage.
Q: Plasma Fission
Vel'Koz fires a plasma Bolt in whatever direction he chooses that deals Magic Damage of up to 240 plus 80% of his AP to the first enemy it hits. Plasma Fission slows enemies by 70% for 1 / 1.4 / 1.8 / 2.2 / 2.6 seconds, with the slow decaying over the time period.
Vel'Koz can recast this ability shortly after firing it which splits the Plasma bolt into firing both in opposite and perpendicular directions to the initial blast. This applies the same effects to any enemies it hits in either Direction.
If Vel'Koz uses his Q, Plasma Fission, to kill an enemy, he restores Mana of up to 150% at level five.
W: Void Rift
Vel'Koz cracks open the Summers Rift forward from his character which will shortly burst open dealing Magic Damage to any enemies that hits of up to 110 plus 15% of Vel'Koz's AP.
After three-quarters of a second, the Rift implodes dealing more dip Magic Damage up to 165 plus 25% of Vel'Koz's AP.
Vel'Koz can stack two charges of this ability, and most importantly there isn't a cooldown between using each charge, so Vel'Koz can stack these very effectively for a nice chunk of burst damage.
E: Tectonic Disruption
Vel'Koz launches a ball at his chosen target location shortly after he casts this ability which deals Magic Damage of up to 190 plus 30% of his AP.
This not only does Magic Damage to all enemies hit, but it also knocks them up and stands them for 0.75 seconds, and grants site of the area whilst doing so - meaning you can use his ability to check bushes that you do not have warded!
If Vel'Koz uses this ability defensively and cars it within closed proximity of his champion model, the explosion will not back enemies slightly as well as than knocking them up.
R: Life Form Disintegration Ray
The passive of Vel'Koz's ultimate ability is called ‘Researched’. This means that when Vel'Koz applies his Deconstruction Passive on enemy champions at 3 stacks, they are marked as Researched for 7 seconds. This refresh is Vel'Koz's basic attacks and ability hits against them.
The active of this ability has Vel'Koz channel for just over two and a half seconds a giant beam of energy that he can steer in a large shape around him. This being forces Vel'Koz to stay still meaning that he is very vulnerable if he just does this out in the open, so make sure you are smart with this ability!
Vel'Koz can also recast this ability to cancel the ability after one second. Each tick of Life Form Disintegration Ray is 45 / 62.5 / 80 (+12.5% of ability power) magic damage every 0.25 seconds.
Enemies hit are also slowed by 20% for one second, and Vel'Koz’s Deconstruction Passive is applied ever 0.7 seconds. this means that enemies can become researched in 2.1 seconds, and the Magic Damage that we just stated would be dealt, is now dealt as True Damage instead!

Vel'Koz has been in the game for just over a decade right now, as he was released in Patch 4.3, which was on February 27 2014 - alongside his release skin, Battlecast Vel'Koz.
Where is Vel'Koz from in League of Legends?
We know very little about where Vel'Koz comes from as he is an unknown subspecies of Voidborn. We know due to his age that there is a possibility that he originates from Ancient Shurima, but this has never been confirmed.
