If you follow the steps correctly and have a little bit of tech knowledge, it is quite easy. You can uninstall the game through the system settings or the Control Panel. It’s important to delete any leftover files to free up storage and prevent errors if you reinstall the game later. Here is how:

Using the Settings App

  1. Open the Settings app by pressing Win + I.
  2. Go to Apps and select Installed apps.
  3. Find League of Legends in the list. Click the three dots next to it and choose Uninstall.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.
  5. Open File Explorer by pressing Win + E and search for leftover files. Delete any folders named "League of Legends" or "LoL".
  6. Restart your computer to finish the process.

Removing the Client

  1. Close the League of Legends client and patcher.
  2. Open Finder and go to the Applications folder.
  3. Drag the League of Legends app to the Trash.
  4. Empty the Trash to remove the app completely.

  1. Open Finder and look for the following folders:

  6. Delete any files related to League of Legends.
  7. Empty the Trash again to ensure the files are gone.

How to fully delete League of Legends on Windows

  4. Search for "Riot" in your drives and delete any remaining files.

How to delete your League of Legends account

If you no longer want to play League of Legends, you can delete your account through Riot’s support system. This process is permanent and requires you to provide account details. Here are the steps:

  1. Log in to the League of Legends website.
  2. Go to the Support section and click Submit a Request.
  3. Choose Account Management, Data Requests, or Deletion in the request type field.
  4. Write "Account Deletion" in the subject line.
  5. Provide the following information:
    1. Your account name and summoner name.
    2. The server you play on.
    3. The email address used to register the account.
    4. Payment methods used for RP purchases (if any).
  6. Submit the request. Riot Games will process the deletion within 30 days. You will not be able to access your account during this period.

How to fix “Can’t install League of Legends because Riot Client is running”

This is a pretty common issue that many players face, but luckily, there are two very easy fixes that you can try when installing League of Legends. Here are those methods:

Method 1: Delete Riot Client Files

  1. Go to C:\ProgramData.
  2. Delete the Riot Games folder.
  3. Retry the installation.

Method 2: Adjust Riot Client Settings

  1. Open Riot Client and click on your avatar.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Disable the option that allows the Riot Client to run in the background.
  4. Uninstall Riot Client and try reinstalling League of Legends
