Fnatic have emerged as the victors at VCT 2023 - Masters Tokyo. The success follows a victorious run at this year's kick-off event, VCT LOCK//IN, that featured a punishing single-elimination bracket. In the end, Fnatic emerge as the first team to win back-to-back VCT international LAN events and have only lost one match thus far this season.

Without a doubt, Fnatic are a well-oiled machine with Jake "Boaster" Howlett at the steer as they may have found the secret recipe for success this VALORANT season. Part of that success is definitely all the hard-work that goes in behind the scenes under the supervision of Head Coach Jacob "mini" Harris. Still, it is undeniable that Fnatic boasts some of the finest players that combine magnificent game awareness, IQ, and pure raw aim.

All of the Fnatic players shined at Masters Tokyo. While it is difficult to pick out one player that was best, we decided that Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov was the most consistent throughout. Therefore, we are awarding Chronicle THESPIKE.gg MVP trophy. Chronicle is the fourth player to receive our award with the previous players being:

"For me, of course I was happy and excited before lifting a trophy in front of probably one of the best crowds I have ever seen in my life," commented Chronicle, "and I'm glad i did it."

Chronicle joined Fnatic alongside Leo and Kamyk following the introduction of VCT International Leagues. As we now know, the newcomers helped Fnatic to reach new heights thus far in the season and unbox the potential that was never fully unlocked. This has made Fnatic the team to defeat this year.

At Masters Tokyo, Chronicle was as steady and reliable as they come. Fnatic played 4 matches at Masters Tokyo, losing just one map throughout the entire event. Over the course of those four matches Chronicle attained the following Ratings (and placement on Fnatic's scoresheet):

Chronicle attained a THESPIKE Rating of 1.27 over the course of the event with 210 rounds played, second overall behind Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang. He also had the third-highest K/D ratio and went negative on one account against Evil Geniuses on Lotus. Chronicle kept switching between Viper and Breach depending on the map, presenting a masterclass on how to play those two agents that are vastly different from one another.

Big shoutout to Emir "Alfajer" Ali Beder who was just as impressive as Chronicle. Alfajer was definitely the MVP of the grand finale against Evil Geniuses. However, Chronicle was the more impressive player throughout the whole event, showcasing big performances over the course of Fnatic's first 3 matches in the event.

To add to his fantastic performance, Chronicle is the first VALORANT professional to win three international LANs. Apart from LOCK//IN and Masters Tokyo, the first was with the now non-existent Gambit Gaming (later M3C) roster at Masters Berlin in 2021.

Humble as they come, Chronicle said the following on being the only player to hold three Majors thus far:

"Honestly, I don't really care about being 3 time Major winner because I have never been making such goals. My motivation is just to play this game and enjoy it as much as i can - but still, I'm obviously happy with achieving these results in the end."

A huge congratulations to Fnatic for winning VALORANT Masters Tokyo, and a round of applause for Chronicle, our VCT Masters Tokyo MVP.
