We have been waiting for Pujan "FNS" Mehta to leave NRG Esports for a while now, and the official announcement finally came. FNS announced on Instagram that NRG released him, and he is now a free agent. In his post, he thanked his teammates and the organization, adding that he currently enjoys streaming and “his heart is not in competing.” This leads us to believe that the professional player might skip a year to focus on content creation.

However, he also let all the teams that he might consider their offers, so the future is currently not crystal clear for FNS.

Many fans were hyped after seeing the new NRG roster at the beginning of the year. The organization looked unstoppable with the addition of ardiis. However, rosters that look incredibly good on paper sometimes fail to meet the expectations, and NRG are probably one of them for many fans from all around the world. Despite their regional success, placing second at VCT 2023 Americas League, NRG couldn’t find what they were looking for on the international level. The organization completed the year without an international trophy, as they placed 5th-8th at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN, 4th at VCT 2023: Masters Tokyo, and 9th-12th at VALORANT Champions 2023. As expected, we will be seeing a different NRG roster next VCT season.

FNS and s0m had already announced their departure

FNS’ departure doesn’t come as a surprise as he had already announced that he won’t be a part of the active NRG lineup alongside s0m next year. Both players announced that they will mostly be streaming throughout the off-season. s0m added that they will be waiting for an opportunity, possibly an offer from another team in the Americas region. However, FNS said in an Instagram post that “his heart is not in competing.” This could, of course, change if he receives a competitive offer with a roster full of talented players. For now, FNS is a free agent, and his future is still up in the air. He could either continue streaming or sign with another team to continue competing at the highest VALORANT level.
