NRG sign KOLER as their third VALORANT member

NRG are the latest high-profile organization to enter North American VALORANT. With the signings of former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professionals Damian "daps" Steele and Sam "s0m" Oh to form the foundations of their roster, they got off to a great start. Today, they welcomed former Immortals member Yannick "KOLER" Blanchette as the third member of their lineup.

KOLER was part of the original Immortals core signed on May 21st, 2020. With the team, he achieved a string of third-place finishes against top competition, in tournaments such as Immortals First Light , the T1 x NSG Showdown, and the FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational. Originally Immortals’ smoker player, though he’s been on Cypher duty as of late, KOLER was an integral part of the team, the steady presence holding back and cleaning things up while his team all-in deathballed on sites. He boasts a 210 ACS, 1.01 KD, and 0.74 KPR.

NRG have announced KOLER as a duelist, and given his history of swapping roles, one would imagine he’d pick up the role just fine. Joining IGL daps and duelist s0m leaves NRG with two more spots to fill. With First Strike coming up, will we see them make another surprising big-name signing?

On Immortals’ end, this is now the third player they’ve lost, with the previous departures of Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk and Quan "dicey" Tran to 100 Thieves. They now only have Noah "jcStani" Smith and Amgalan "Genghsta" Nemekhbayar remaining, meaning a full rebuild is in order. There is plenty of talent available, but they’ll have to move quickly, as they are currently slated to play in the Renegades x NSG VALORANT Invitational, which kicks off next weekend.

With the signing of KOLER, NRG Esports are:

Canada Damien “daps” Steele United States Sam “s0m” Oh Canada Yannick “KOLER” Blanchette

United States Chet “Chet” Singh (Coach)

    With his departure, Immortals are:

United States Noah “jcStani” Smith Mongolia Amgalan “genghsta” Nemekhbayar

    Australia Jordan "Gunba" Graham (Coach)
