The "Trails and Tales" update in Minecraft introduced a cool new feature: armor trims. These trims are all about style, letting you customize your armor's appearance without affecting its protective power. You apply these designs using Smithing Templates, which you can find in various places in the game. We made this list to show you where to find the armor trims and more. Here is everything you need to know about armor trims in Minecraft!

What are armor trims in Minecraft?
Armor trims are decorative changes that players can add to their armor. They don't make the armor stronger but change how it looks. Players need something called a Smithing Template to add these trims. You can find these templates in various locations, and each one fits the theme of the place it comes from.

    Armor TrimExplanation
Sentry Armor TrimThe Sentry Armor Trim is available at Pillager Outposts. It adds a simple stripe to helmets and a more intricate design that looks like a target on chest plates. This design fits well with the theme of defense at these outposts.
Vex Armor TrimThe Vex Armor Trim is in the chests of woodland mansions, which are homes to various villagers. This trim adds vex-like eyebrows to helmets and a long line across the chest plate.
Eye Armor TrimThe Eye Armor Trim is in strongholds. It includes an eye of ender design on the chest plate and cool geometric patterns on the rest of the armor. Late-game players usually find this trim when exploring these structures.
Dune Armor TrimThe Dune Armor Trim is hidden in the desert pyramids. Players must navigate around TNT to reach this trim, which features curvy lines and distinct patterns on the armor.
Flow Armor TrimThe Flow Armor Trim is available in Trial Chambers. Its design is full of spirals and twisting lines that remind you of wind. There is a 22.5% chance of finding this trim, making it a favorite for its dynamic look.
Rib Armor TrimFound in Nether Fortresses, the Rib Armor Trim adds a skeletal look to the armor, reflecting the haunting environment of the fortress.
Spire Armor TrimIn the End Cities, you can find the Spire Armor Trim. It adds stripes and checkered patterns to armor, fitting these cities' high and challenging status.
Wild Armor TrimThe Wild Armor Trim is in Jungle Temples. It features spikes on the chest plate and straight lines on the leggings, reflecting the adventurous theme of the jungle.
Host Armor TrimThe Host Armor Trim from Trail Ruins is one of the simplest designs but shows that simplicity can be stylish. It's subtle but appealing.
Coast Armor TrimShipwrecks are where you find the Coast Armor Trim. Finding the trim can be challenging as shipwrecks spawn with varying numbers of chests. The trim adds sleek stripes to the armor.
Snout Armor TrimThe Snout Armor Trim is in Bastion Remnants, home to piglins. It features nostril designs on the helmet and a clean pattern on the rest of the armor.
Bolt Armor TrimAlso in the Trial Chambers, the Bolt Armor Trim has a minimalist design with straight lines and geometric shapes. This trim is rare, with a 5.4% chance of dropping.
Tide Armor TrimTo get the Tide Armor Trim, you must defeat an Elder Guardian at Ocean Monuments. This trim has a unique face-like design on the helmet and emblematic patterns on the chest plate.
Ward Armor TrimThe Ancient City is home to the Ward Armor Trim. It's tied to the mysterious and challenging environment of the Warden's home.
Shaper Armor TrimFound in Trail Ruins, the Shaper Armor Trim emphasizes the shape of the armor with lines that follow the armor's contours.
Wayfinder Armor TrimAlso in Trail Ruins, the Wayfinder Armor Trim helps players navigate sandstorms, at least in appearance. It adds zigzag stripes to the armor.
Silence Armor TrimAnother trim found in the Ancient City, the Silence Armor Trim, stands out with detailed and shaded lines, offering a sophisticated look for those who find it.
Raiser Armor TrimThe Raiser Armor Trim, found in Trail Ruins, features raised eyebrows and diagonal lines, giving the player a grumpy but fancy look.

How to apply armor trims in Minecraft

To apply armor trims, you need a few things:

    • A Smithing Table to do the work.
    • An armor piece, like a helmet, chest plate, leggings, or boots.
    • The Armor Trim you want to use.
    • A coloring material that determines the color of the trim. Options include Iron, Copper, Gold, Lapis, Emerald, Diamond, Netherite, Redstone, Amethyst, and Quartz.

Put the trim, armor piece, and coloring material in the Smithing Table's slots to see your newly customized armor.

What is the weakest Minecraft armor?

Leather is the weakest armor in Minecraft, offering the least protection. The materials get stronger from there, with Gold, Chain, and Iron providing more protection. Diamond armor is one of the strongest, helping players survive against tough enemies and dangers.

Now you have all the details on where to find each armor trim in Minecraft and how they can make your gameplay more colorful. With this information, you can customize your armor and stand out in the game. Remember, armor trims are for looks only. They don't improve your armor's protection.

How rare is silence armor trim?

Silence Armor Trim is one of the rarest trims in the game, and there is a 1.2% chance for you to find it in a chest. You can only find it inside ancient cities, and these cities are in the Deep Dark biome, deep underground. These cities are mostly very dangerıus to walk around because of the Warden guards.

    How to color leather armor

You can dye leather armor by using a crafting table. Place one leather armor piece and one dye in the grid. You can mix different dyes to create new colors. However, this only works with leather armor; you cannot dye iron, diamond, or netherite armor. If you are playing the Bedrock Edition, you can also use a cauldron with colored water.

Why can't I dye leather armor in Minecraft?

Many players face problems while trying to dye leather armor. Here are three common reasons and how to fix them:

    • You are using the wrong armor type: Only leather armor can be dyed. If you try to dye iron, chainmail, diamond, or netherite armor, it will not work. Make sure you are using leather items like helmets, chestplates, leggings, or boots.
    • You are using the wrong method: The dyeing method is different in Java and Bedrock versions. In Java Edition, you need a crafting table. Place the leather armor and dye in the grid. In Bedrock Edition, you can use a cauldron. Fill it with water and add dye; then use the armor on the cauldron.
    • You are in the wrong game mode: In Java Edition, cauldrons do not work in Creative Mode. If you are in Creative and trying to use a cauldron, it will fail. Switch to Survival Mode or use the crafting table instead. In Bedrock Edition, cauldrons work in both modes.
