How to Change Your Nickname in VALORANT
So this might come as a shock to you, but VALORANT accounts don’t actually exist! What we all actually use is Riot Accounts, ever since the release of games such as VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and League of Legends Wild Rift.
This is because when Riot Games went from being just a League of Legends games developer to a multi-games developer, they decided that a universal account across all of their titles would be a much better fit for their players.
This does not mean the nickname changing process is the same, however.
How you can change your nickname in VALORANT
This process is not the same as games such as League of Legends, where you use Blue Essence to change your name, in VALORANT it is completely free!
Changing your nickname in VALORANT is very similar to changing your VALORANT name, but there are some key differences.
You want to follow these simple steps to change your VALORANT nickname, and make sure you’ve closed your VALORANT client before we start:
Log into your Riot account on Google, Yahoo, Firefox or whatever browser you use Find the tab that says Riot ID in the top left of your webpage Choose your brand new awesome nickname and insert it Press Save Changes to finalize your new awesome nickname!
You can also change your tagline here as well, just follow the same process as we did for changing your VALORANT nickname, but in one box to the right!
How often can you change your nickname in VALORANT?
In Valorant, you can only change your nickname once every 30 days, this is also the same for changing your VALORANT tagline, so make sure it is something you really want to change it to.
This is the trade off for not having to pay in game currency to change your nickname, unlike in League of Legends.
If you do try and change your VALORANT nickname and you have changed it in the past 30 days, you will get a message saying you have changed it too recently, and it will give you a date and time that you can change your VALORANT nickname again.
Can you change your Riot Account username?
Your Riot Account username is the username you use to log into the Riot Client, or the client of any of their games, and sadly you cannot change this.
This is personal to only you, and no one else in any of Riot Games’ titles will see this name, so don’t worry about changing it!
It is still worth noting, however, that if you do make a new account, Riot Games can suspend the account if your username is offensive or breaks their code of conduct, so choose this wisely too.
