VALORANT Patch 13.00 sees major buffs to Sentinels and Initiators and more
VALORANT V26 Act 4 launches with Patch 13.00, and it's one of the most sweeping updates the game has seen in a long time. Whether you're a Sentinel main waiting for your moment or a ranked grinder tired of feeling stuck, this patch has something for you. Here's the complete breakdown.
Sentinels Are Finally Getting Their Due
For too long, Sentinels have struggled to punish disorganized, brute-force site hits. Riot is addressing that directly with buffs across all five Sentinel agents:
- Cypher – Trapwire windup reduced from 0.9s to 0.7s, letting him set up faster under pressure
- Killjoy – Turret rate of fire up 50%, Nanoswarm duration extended from 4s to 5s, and Alarmbot movement speed increased by 50%
- Veto – Interceptor reclaim cooldown cut from 30s to 20s; Crosscut's usable area expanded from 24m to 30m and arming time halved to 0.75s
- Sage – Self Heal-Over-Time doubled from 50 to 100 HP
- Deadlock – GravNet cooldown reduced from 60s to 50s
The intent is clear: Sentinels should be a genuine deterrent to mindless aggression, and these changes go a long way toward achieving that.
Initiators Hit More Often in Late Rounds
Riot is trimming Initiator signature ability cooldowns to give them more strategic agency in late-round scenarios. Sova, Fade, Skye, Breach, and KAY/O all see their signature cooldowns drop from 60s to 50s.
Gekko also benefits, with his buddy reclaim cooldowns reduced from 20s to 15s. These changes aim to find a middle ground between pre- and post-Patch 11.08 timing, rather than a full rollback.
Omen's Teleport Is Now Harder to Miss
Omen's Shrouded Step audio has been reworked for better gameplay clarity. Previously, Omen could teleport past or behind enemies entirely undetected simply because players couldn't parse the audio cue in chaotic rounds. The updated sound should make nearby Shrouded Step casts noticeably easier to hear.
Agent Voice Lines Get a Cleanup
Riot is using this patch to standardize agent ability voice lines and reduce audio clutter across the roster. A large number of agents—including Killjoy, Jett, Reyna, Viper, Sova, Fade, Neon, Yoru, Tejo, and more—are losing lines that no longer meet current quality standards. On the flip side, new voice interactions are being added: Sage and Viper get Summit-specific lines, and new conversations have been recorded for Miks & Gekko and Jett & Phoenix.
Summit Is Here From Day 1
The patch's marquee addition is Summit, a brand-new 5v5 Spike map set inside a Radiant training academy nestled in the mountains of China. The map has three lanes and two sites, with a standout feature: droppable walls that players can use to dynamically reshape sightlines and chokepoints mid-round.

What's In and What's Out
The competitive map pool has been reshuffled with Summit's arrival:
| Map Status | Maps |
|---|---|
| IN | Summit, Sunset |
| OUT | Fracture, Pearl |
Retake Mode: Fast, Chaotic, and a Lot of Fun
Patch 13.00 also brings Retake, a new limited-time 3v3 mode where the Spike is already planted when the round begins. One team defends the site while the other scrambles to defuse in pure post-plant chaos from the first second.

Ranked Updates
Two significant ranked updates ship with this patch. The RR calculation has been adjusted so that players who consistently win matches, particularly at Immortal and above, no longer feel as stuck in their climb. On PC only, matchmaking has also been tightened so the average rank of both teams stays within one sub-tier of each other, meaning fairer and more competitive lobbies across the board.
Bandit Gets a Buff
The Bandit receives a small but meaningful tune-up to make it a more viable option beyond just pistol rounds:
- Recovery improved: 0.45 → 0.40
- Tap efficiency increased: 3 → 4
- Pitch recoil at max reduced: 4 → 3
Riot wants the Bandit to sit competitively alongside the Ghost and Sheriff without losing its identity as a precision weapon that rewards mastery.
The New Inbox Feature
A new Inbox system is now live in the VALORANT client—a centralized hub for non-urgent notifications you can revisit at any time. At launch, it includes gifting updates, Premier promotion alerts, RR refund notices, reporter feedback messages, and Act Introduction recaps. One known issue: some players may see duplicate RR refund notifications via both Inbox and the existing popup — Riot confirms this is a display bug and does not mean you're getting double the RR.
Premier Stage V26A4: Key Dates
Premier competition is back for Stage V26A4, with matches starting July 1. Standard division teams need a Premier Score of at least 600 to qualify for Playoffs. Playoffs are spread across two days — the opening round on August 15 and the finals on August 16. Contender and Invite Division teams qualify based on standings placement rather than score.
The Verdict
VALORANT Patch 13.00 is a statement update that touches nearly every corner of the game. The Sentinel and Initiator buffs breathe new life into roles that have struggled to keep pace with the aggression-heavy meta. Patch 13.00 sets a strong foundation for what could be one of the most strategically rich Acts in recent VALORANT history.
