Veto
VetoVALORANT Agent Veto is the latest Sentinel to join Riot Games’ tactical shooter, bringing a mix of aggression, disruption, and mobility never before seen in his role. Introduced in October 2025 during Champions Paris, Veto instantly caught players’ attention for one key reason — he can destroy and disable enemy utility, turning the game’s gadget-heavy meta on its head.
If you’re wondering who Veto is, what his abilities do, and how to play him effectively, this guide covers everything you need to know about the new VALORANT Agent.
Where is Veto from? Agent’s origins explained
Veto, VALORANT’s 29th agent, hails from Senegal in West Africa. Unlike most Sentinels who focus purely on defense, Veto brings a hybrid playstyle — mixing protection and proactive disruption. He is officially described as “empowered by an unstoppable DNA mutation,” identifying him as a mutation-powered enforcer whose specialty is nullifying his opponent’s gadgets and tech.
In gameplay, Veto functions as more than a traditional site anchor.
VALORANT Veto agent abilities & how to use them
His tools allow him to disable, delay, or reposition in ways that few agents can match.
C – Crosscut
Veto’s Crosscut deploys a vortex on the ground that serves as a teleport anchor. While active, Veto can instantly return to it as long as it’s within his line of sight. The ability can also be reclaimed during the buy phase. It functions somewhat like Omen’s teleport, but with a greater range
- How to use it: Place it in a safe fallback position before taking an aggressive peek. It’s also a great rotation tool for repositioning between sites or escaping when enemies rush.
Q – Chokehold
Veto throws a viscous fragment that turns into a trap on impact. When triggered, it holds enemies in place while applying Deafen and Decay effects. The trap can be destroyed before it activates.
- How to use it: Ideal for chokepoints like Bind’s Hookah or Haven’s Garage. The Deafen effect makes it especially effective in confusing opponents mid-fight or gathering information on backstabs.
E – Interceptor (Signature Ability)
This is what makes VALORANT Agent Veto truly unique. The Interceptor destroys any enemy utility that interacts with players or is normally breakable by gunfire — from recon darts and bots to grenades and utility projectiles, as well as Sage's and Deadlock's walls.
How to use it: Place the Interceptor near common entry points to deny grenades, flashes, or initiator setups. It’s perfect for countering agents like Sova, Skye, and KAY/O.
X – Evolution (Ultimate)
When activated, Evolution transforms Veto into a supercharged state. He gains health regeneration, faster weapon handling, and immunity to debuffs — meaning flashes, stuns, and slows no longer affect him.
The effect nullifies some ultimates, like Breach's, Fade's, or even Raze's Showstopper.
- How to use it: Save this for clutch moments, retakes, or aggressive pushes. Evolution allows you to fight through enemy crowd control and completely dominate gunfights.

VALORANT Agent 29’s strengths and weaknesses
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Utility Denial: Veto can shut down initiators and controllers who depend on gadgets, breaking common setups. | Setup Time: Requires careful pre-round planning; can be vulnerable if rushed early. |
| High Mobility: His teleport allows quick repositioning — rare for a Sentinel and valuable for rotating or escaping. | Device Dependence: If his Interceptor or traps are destroyed, his defensive advantage drops significantly. |
| Clutch Potential: His ultimate, Evolution, boosts combat ability and survivability, turning tight rounds in his favor. | Skill Ceiling: Needs strong map knowledge and timing awareness to use his kit effectively. |
| Team Value: Works best with teammates who coordinate placements and cover his utility. | - |
Now, attackers have to rethink their strategies:
- No more easy site takes with chain flashes.
- No more guaranteed recon from Sova or Fade.
- No more safety nets when utility is destroyed mid-execute. For defenders, Veto brings balance between passive and active play. He can anchor a site using traps and Interceptors or rotate aggressively with Crosscut. His flexibility makes him valuable on maps that reward movement — like Ascent or Split — where quick repositioning is key.
How to counter Veto
Here are some tips and tricks for playing against Veto.
- Use pre-fires or utility to clear his trap.
- Take early control before he places Interceptors.
- During Evolution, Veto’s ultimate doesn’t expire, so you must fight him with guns. Peek with a teammate to split his focus and gain the advantage.
- Mix up your flashes and darts to bypass his counters. If you hear his Interceptor activate, it makes a distinct sound. Wait for it to expire before using a utility that can be destroyed while it’s active. The best counter to Veto is unpredictability. Keep him guessing, and his control over the round weakens.
Veto voice actor
The English-language voice of Veto is Bamar Kane.
