The wording can be confusing because Warzone also uses terms such as supply box, loot crate, Scavenger crate, and high-tier cache. In everyday play, “cache” is often the broad challenge category, while “crate” usually describes a particular physical box or a container tied to a contract or special activity.

So, what are Loot Caches in Warzone?

Loot caches in Warzone are searchable containers that release weapons, ammunition, armor plates, cash, equipment, and other match items when opened. If a challenge tells you to “loot” or “open” caches, interact with the containers you find inside buildings and around points of interest until the challenge counter increases.

Do supply boxes count as loot caches?

Yes. Standard searchable supply boxes are the most reliable containers to open for a generic loot-cache challenge.

    Caches vs. crates in Warzone

    • A loot cache is the general objective category for searchable loot containers. Standard supply boxes found around the map are the safest targets when a challenge asks you to loot caches.
    • A crate is usually a more specific container. For example, official patch notes call the containers revealed by a Scavenger contract “crates” and separately refer to the final “cache.” Airdrop crates are another distinct type delivered through a special activity rather than ordinary map looting.

The practical rule is simple: open regular searchable supply boxes for cache challenges. Do not assume that loose floor loot, duffel bags, medicine cabinets, Loadout Drops, or containers spawned by every special mode will count unless the on-screen tracker confirms progress.

How to loot caches in Warzone

Enter Battle Royale or another playlist allowed by the challenge, land at a large point of interest, and clear buildings in a consistent route. Listen for the humming sound made by unopened supply boxes, check both floors, and look behind counters, under stairs, on shelves, and inside small side rooms.

Stand close to the container and use the interact button. The cache must open and release its contents; merely looking at it or collecting loose items nearby does not count as looting the cache. Check the event or challenge menu after several openings to make sure the selected playlist is tracking them.

If you want to finish these cache challenges fast, land at a quiet POI away from other players. Loot in one direction so you don't waste time checking the same buildings twice. Open every chest you find, grab what you need, and keep moving. Once the area is empty, rotate to another POI or start a new match.

Fastest way to loot 50 caches

    1. When Verdansk Battle Royale Casual is available, select it and turn Squad Fill off. Casual matches include bots, which usually makes it easier to focus on looting without being pushed by full squads.
    2. The attached route recommends landing at the southern edge of Farmland and moving north through the buildings. Search each house completely before moving to the next. Farmland covers a wide area and is often less contested than central Verdansk locations, so it can provide a long chain of containers without repeated fights.
    3. If Verdansk or Battle Royale Casual is unavailable, use the same method at a large, low-traffic point of interest on the active map.

Why are my caches not counting?

Make sure you are opening an interactive container rather than collecting loose ground loot. Confirm that the challenge permits your current mode, and allow the match to finish or return to the lobby before checking delayed progress. If one container type does not advance the counter, switch to standard supply boxes in regular Battle Royale or Battle Royale Casual.

Some cache-based objectives are limited-time event challenges. The C.O.D.E. Navigator Challenge, which included the Warzone objective to loot 50 caches for the Liftoff animated camo, was a limited-time event that has ended. It cannot be completed unless Activision brings it back, although the same looting method applies to newer cache challenges.
