Apex Legends' Gold Rush 2025 event, cosmetics, and everything you need to know
Another-time limited mode welcomes into the Apex Legends world. This time, with a gold rush-focued theme.Since its release, Apex Legends has made a name for itself through its bold limited-time modes, striking cosmetics, and a competitive scene that continues to evolve. One such standout is Gold Rush—a mode that flipped the game’s core mechanics on their head and left a lasting impression on players and streamers alike.
Now, in 2025, the Gold Rush is more than a memory; it's a full-scale event blending nostalgia, elite competition, and high-stakes gameplay. Whether you’re a veteran Legend or a curious newcomer, here’s everything you need to know about the golden phenomenon.
The origins of the gold weapons: Gold Rush Duos & Grand Soirée Arcade Event
First appearing during the Grand Soirée Arcade Event in January 2020, Gold Rush Duos dropped 30 two-person squads into a battlefield stocked exclusively with fully-kitted gold weapons and care package items. By eliminating attachment scavenging, the mode offered a level playing field where quick decision-making and sharp aim were paramount.
This fast-paced gameplay created a fan-favorite moment in Apex history, celebrated for rewarding pure skill over loot luck.
Cosmetic prestige: Octane Skin
Alongside the mode came the Gold Rush skin for Octane, a sleek, golden-themed cosmetic that quickly became one of the most coveted in the game. Unlockable for 1,200 crafting materials, the skin also served as a prerequisite for the rare Holeshot Hotshot variant.

To this day, Gold Rush remains one of the most-equipped skins in the game, exemplifying Respawn’s knack for combining design with prestige.
The 2025 tournament
The APEX LEGENDS GOLD RUSH tournament, held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, marked a significant event in the Apex Legends competitive scene. This tournament featured 60 popular streamers forming 20 teams, competing under a match point format.
