Apex Legends Galactic Games Event: Details and Features
A huge event in Apex Legends.Respawn Entertainment recently announced the new Galactic Games event with a couple of exciting updates coming into the game. The players had waited years for Apex to allow wall running in the game, and despite being available for a limited time, they will be able to enjoy the feature. The Grand Slam bat, wall running, and more. Here is everything you need to know about the Galactic Games event in Apex Legends!
What is the Galactic Games event?
Galactic Games is a three-week event that takes place during Season 26: Showdown. It is focused on Wildcard mode, which is a close-quarters format where players fight with fast action and limited space. Plates can enjoy new Apex Legends skins, gameplay features, and more!
Events like this keep Apex fresh. Respawn uses them to test mechanics that would not work in the main battle royale but still give players something new.
Wild Card system in Wildcard Mode
The biggest change in this event is the new Wild Card system. Replicators now let players craft Wild Cards that add extra abilities. One slot unlocks at the start of Round 1, a second slot in Round 2, and a third slot in Round 3. By the end of a match, you can carry three Wild Cards.
The Wild Cards available are:
- Mad Dash – unlocks a short dash ability
- Recharger – restores shields while sprinting
- Personal Space – increases melee knockback
- Hard Hitter – boosts melee damage
- Status Report – reveals enemy positions on knock
- Wall Runner – gives wall-running ability
- Speedy Charge – recharges Tactical and Ultimate faster
This system changes how each round feels. Some players will focus on mobility, while others will strengthen melee attacks. Respawn will remove the feature when the event ends, and Wildcard will return to its regular form.
Wall running is now available
Wall running is one of the most requested features in Apex Legends, mostly because of its role in Titanfall. It allows players to move across walls at high speed, which adds new angles for combat. In Galactic Games, wall running appears only as a Wild Card option.
A developer from Respawn has explained before that permanent wall running would break the balance of Apex. It makes movement less predictable, and fights harder to read.
The Grand Slam Bat: A new melee weapon
Melee takes the spotlight during this event. The Grand Slam Bat is available in Wildcard through care packages. It is stronger than regular melee attacks and adds knockback to every hit. On the third strike, enemies are launched farther, and it can hit multiple targets at once.
Outside of Wildcard, players can also unlock a universal melee version of the bat. This permanent item comes with visual customizations and a themed Death Box. You can buy its skins with Exotic Shards once it is unlocked.
The bat makes melee combat more exciting. Combined with Wild Cards that boost damage or knockback, it becomes a real strategy rather than a last resort.

How to unlock the Grand Slam Bat in Apex Legends
There are two ways to unlock the Grand Slam Bat in Apex Legends, but one of them is only available during the Galactic Games event.
Through Event Packs
- The Grand Slam Bat is part of the Galactic Games cosmetic set.
- Each Event Pack contains three items: one guaranteed event cosmetic and two standard cosmetics.
- Since there are no duplicate event items, every pack you open increases your chances of getting the Bat.
- All players receive one Event Pack when the event begins. You can earn more by completing weekly challenges or buying them from the in-game store.
- This method is time-limited. You can only get the Bat from Event Packs until September 9, 2025.
As a Permanent Universal Melee
- If you miss the event packs, you can still get the universal melee version of the Bat later.
- This permanent version is part of the event cosmetics and functions like other universal melees.
- Once unlocked, it can be customized with Exotic Shards and used by any Legend.
This system rewards both players who grind during the event and those who join after it ends.
Rewards and the Galactic Games shop
The event also offers a Reward Shop where players can spend Honor, a currency earned through daily challenges. The shop rotates its items halfway through the event, and players can track progress through four event badges.
Rewards include:
- Legendary skins for Seer, Sparrow, Gibraltar, and Loba
- Legendary weapon skins for the R-301, Flatline, Devotion, and Triple-Take
- Bonus Exotic Shards as milestone rewards
Each Event Pack guarantees one event cosmetic, and milestone progression unlocks more rewards over time. The system ensures that dedicated players unlock valuable items while still leaving something for casual players.

Creator hub and community
Respawn also highlights the Apex Legends Creator Hub during Galactic Games. The program helps streamers and content creators with tools like creator codes, early access, and support for hosting events. The goal is to grow the community and keep creators involved in Apex’s development.
Updates and fixes with the event
Respawn rolled out several fixes alongside the event:
- Accolades now display and sound correctly
- Replicators no longer break when used after landing
- Bangalore’s Tactical no longer destroys deployables through walls
- Enemy health bars now display icons for buffs
- Ongoing work continues on loot bin issues in Storm Point and challenge progress in Mixtape
Wall running is a temporary experiment, but the Grand Slam Bat and the milestone rewards give players lasting items for their collection. For three weeks, players have a chance to try something new and earn exclusive items that will remain in their inventory long after the event ends.
