Keeping the game fresh by adding new characters, features, maps, etc., as well as changing what is already out there, is very important to keep all the players engaged. That is something that Apex Legends does so well. The 18th season in Apex Legends called "Resurrection," focused on changing an existing character instead of adding a new one. Revenant has been transformed into Revenant Reborn. This major change helped him stay relevant in the game and deepen his storyline, linking his past actions to his future in the game.

    Meet Revenant Reborn

Apex Legends Season 18, called "Resurrection," does not introduce a new character but revitalizes an existing one—Revenant. This season, developers at Respawn Entertainment have revamped Revenant, now known as Revenant Reborn, aligning him better with the game’s current standards. His update is not just a change to his abilities but also a crucial part of the ongoing story in the game.

The story elements, revealed through the "Neon Network Collection" event and the "Kill Code" cinematics, focus on Revenant’s background and his transformation. Initially, it was thought that Octane’s father had a plan involving Revenant. However, new information from the Kill Code series sheds light on connections to Hammond Labs and deeper plots. These narrative pieces set the stage for the significant changes in Revenant's abilities, showcasing his struggle and the evolution of his powers.

Revenant’s overhaul is a strategic update to keep his character engaging and effective in Apex Legends. His new abilities significantly alter his gameplay, promoting a more active and pivotal role in battles. Unlike simple updates to other characters like Mirage and Crypto, Revenant’s extensive changes equip him with entirely new skills that enhance his impact in the game.

    Revenant rework explained

Revenant's transformation is extensive, affecting how he interacts with his team and enemies. His new abilities cater to aggressive play styles and improve his chances of survival in battle.

    • Assassin’s Instinct (Passive Ability): Revenant’s passive ability has improved. He moves faster when crouching and climbs walls better. His ability now also marks enemies with low health, helping teammates identify and target these weakened foes.
    • Shadow Pounce (Tactical Ability): Replacing his old silence grenade, Revenant now has Shadow Pounce. This new ability lets him jump forward quickly, similar to using an Octane jump pad. Players can charge this ability to jump even further, adding a strategic layer to his movement.
    • Forged Shadows (Ultimate Ability): His ultimate ability has changed completely. The previous death totem is gone, replaced by Forged Shadows. This new ability surrounds Revenant in a shield that absorbs damage. This shield regenerates over time and recharges his Shadow Pounce instantly when he knocks down an enemy.

These updates are part of the developers' ongoing effort to keep the game balanced and exciting. They noted that Revenant's old abilities were becoming less effective, necessitating these comprehensive changes.

    Revenant Reborn release date

Revenant Reborn was introduced on August 8, 2023, with the launch of Apex Legends Season 18. This release was part of a broader update that also adjusted the game’s weapon dynamics, especially focusing on SMGs and bringing back Disruptor Rounds. The season also updated the Ranked system and introduced new features like the Mixtape mode on the Broken Moon map.

    Is Revenant Reborn replacing Revenant?

Yes, Revenant Reborn replaces the old Revenant in Apex Legends. This isn’t just a small tweak. The entire character has been redone. Originally, Revenant was a fearsome assassin, but his abilities did not keep up with the game. The developers created Revenant Reborn with enhanced skills and a new role in the game's stories. This update was necessary to keep him relevant and effective for players.

    Has Revenant been buffed?

Revenant has indeed been buffed with the arrival of Revenant Reborn. His updated abilities make him stronger and more useful in fights. His passive ability, Assassin’s Instinct, not only lets him move faster and climb walls better, but it also marks weak enemies so teammates can spot them easily. His new tactical ability, Shadow Pounce, lets him jump far distances, similar to an Octane jump pad. His ultimate, Forged Shadows, now gives him a shield that absorbs damage, adding a layer of protection in battles. These improvements make him a much better character for aggressive play and surviving tough fights.

    How to unlock Revenant Reborn?

You can unlock Revenant Reborn by completing four special in-game challenges during the current season. Each challenge focuses on tasks linked to Revenant’s abilities and combat style. One important goal is to deal around 40,000 damage in matches. Other tasks include using his new passive skill and finishing enemies under certain conditions. Players who complete all four challenges unlock Revenant Reborn permanently.

If you already own the original Revenant, finishing these challenges still brings rewards. Instead of unlocking him again, you receive bonus Battle Pass stars and extra seasonal items. So, you won’t lose anything but get freebies in the game.

    Why does Revenant hate Loba?

Revenant’s deep hatred for Loba comes from a violent past. Years ago, he murdered her parents while carrying out a mission. This event left Loba with lifelong trauma and a strong desire for revenge. From that moment, she vowed to destroy him and has chased him across every lead and battleground.

Their conflict is personal and intense. Loba has tried many times to end his life, while Revenant often taunts her and creates fear to keep the fight alive. The game’s story shows them as enemies locked in a cycle of revenge with no chance of peace.
