Poppy can be played in either the Top Lane, Support, or the Jungle, and she can be played in a variety of different ways that really excel past her simple abilities and kit.

Whilst Poppy is a very simple champion who is quite easy to pick up, this does not make her any less effective. Especially with her ability to prevent enemies from dashing in such a high-mobility game, Poppy can find herself often being the most important champion on your team.

So if this is something you want to be game in and game out, then picking up Poppy might be the perfect solution for you. Here is everything you need to know about Poppy in League of Legends so you can start climbing with the lovable Yordle.

    Passive: Iron Ambassador

Every 13 to 7 seconds based on Poppy's level, she throws her Buckler, which gives her 350 bonus range and deals up to 180 bonus Magic Damage. The Buckler will then fall on the ground near its target, and stay there for four seconds.

If Poppy walks over the Buckler, she gains a shield of up to 18% of her max health for three seconds, but if the Buckler kills the target it immediately bounces back to Poppy instead.

    Q: Hammer Shock

The bread and butter of Poppy's kit is Hammer Shock, and it has Poppy smash the ground in front of her dealing Physical Damage of up to 120 plus 90% of Poppy’s bonus AD, plus an additional 9% of the target's maximum health.

Damage is capped against Monsters of up to 150, so while Jungler Poppy is good, her Q can be limited when clearing camps.

When Poppy's hammer hits the ground it creates a small field for one second that slows enemies and then explodes to deal the same amount of Physical Damage once again. The slow is between 20 and 40%, going up by 5% every time Poppy levels up this ability.

    W: Steadfast Presence

The passive on Poppy's W, Steadfast Presence, increases her total Armor and Magic Resistance by 12%, which is doubled to 24% while she's below 40% of her maximum health.

When Poppy uses her W, she gains 40% bonus movement speed and creates an AOE aura around herself for two seconds. This means that any enemies who attempt to dash into it or within it are dealt up to 230 Magic Damage, scaling with 70% of her AP, and are also knocked up for 0.5 seconds.

After this enemies become grounded and slowed by 25% for two seconds, meaning that they cannot dash away!

    E: Heroic Charge

Poppy selects a target and dashes to that enemy. When landing, she deals Physical Damage of up to 140 plus 50% of her bonus AP, and drags them with her for an additional 400 units.

If the target hits terrain, both Poppy and the target crash into it dealing the same Physical Damage again, and stunning them for up to two seconds at max rank.

    R: Keeper's Verdict

    Poppy R

Poppy charges up her hammer, swinging it around her head for four seconds - which also slows her by 15% whilst doing so. The longer she charges Keeper's Verdict for, the further the range and knockback distance is.

During these four seconds charging, she can recast it immediately, launching her hammer at the target direction, which deals up to 200 damage plus 40% of Poppy's bonus AD, as well as knocking them up for one second.

If Poppy has charged Keeper's Verdict for more than 0.5 seconds it deals double this damage, and enemies that are hit get knocked back 3400 units towards the enemy teams base. When she releases the channel a shockwave goes along the ground in the target direction until it hits an enemy champion, knocking them back.

If this sounds like you're rarely going to get it off in the middle of a teamfight, don't worry if this ability is cancelled, it's only put on a 15 second cooldown!

When was Poppy released in League of Legends?

Being one of the oldest champions in the game and certainly one of the oldest Yordles,  Poppy has been on the Rift since January 13, 2010.

This was in Patch 1.0.0.70, and Poppy is actually one of the few champions that was not released alongside her own skin!

Where is Poppy from in League of Legends?

Being a Yordle, I'm sure you can imagine that Poppy naturally comes from Bandle City, but she currently resides in Demacia.

Poppy is one of the few Yordles to live outside of Bandle City, as there was just something about Demacia she just fell in love with.

Poppy’s Age in League of Legends

Once again, as Poppy is a Yordle and from Bandle City, we know very little about her heritage and origin. However, Poppy is one of the few Yordles that we know a little about her age.

All we know about Poppy's age is that she was born earlier than 1 AN. This means she is at least 996 years old. We know it isn't much but it is all we have to go on!

Poppy’s Voice Actor in League of Legends

Poppy's voice actress in League of Legends is Kate Higgins, and she has been in a lot of video games and animated TV shows that you might know.

With roles in SpongeBob SquarePants TV series, the movie Ralph Breaks the Internet, and even Diablo 4, Kate Higgins is a worldwide voice actress who really does a great job bringing Poppy to life.

What ADC is good with Poppy?

Poppy works best with ADCs that deal fast damage or poke from a safe distance. Champions like Samira, Draven, and Kai’Sa can follow up well after Poppy stuns or knocks back enemies. Her crowd control gives them more chances to deal damage early in fights. Poppy also helps protect ADCs like Ezreal and Jhin, who need more space to stay safe. Her shield and knockback help these champions survive when enemies get close. If you play with a long-range ADC like Caitlyn or Senna, Poppy can keep enemies away and help them poke from far without pressure.

    Who can beat Poppy?

Poppy struggles against supports who poke from range or stop her from engaging. Sona, Milio, Janna, and Nami are good examples. They stay safe and deal damage without walking into her range. In the top lane, ranged champions like Varus, Xerath, or Ziggs can also give her a hard time. They attack from far away and keep control of the lane. Poppy also has a harder time when enemies don’t stand near walls, which limits her stun potential.

My main games are VALORANT and League of Legends, so you could say that I am at the beck and call of Riot Games! I have worked previously for a few different websites, doing various roles, such as writing, editing, and even voiceovers, but here at THESPIKE, I am an out-and-out article writer, so I can really get as much content out as I can! I graduated with my Esports degree with a 2:1, and a desire to keep going, so this was a perfect step for me, but I still can't get enough of League of Legends when I'm free.
