VALORANT as a game has a massive fanbase across the world, but yet you can only play on the region that you are automatically assigned to by the game.

Unfortunately, this is not great. It is something that League of Legends used to have the ability to do in the login screen, but VALORANT has never had such an option. A lot of players would be happy to change their region and play with high ping, just to experience it - but Riot Games claim this is to help the natives of each region - which does make sense.

This begs the question, can you play VALORANT with someone in a different region? Well this will be answered, along with a lot more in this article. So here is how to play in different regions in VALORANT!

The short answer to can you play VALORANT from different regions is no. You can’t play the same game with two accounts in different regions. Now you might be wondering if you can, and if so, how to play VALORANT with friends from different regions all around the world. Well, there is a solution to that problem.

Firstly, you will need to download a VPN. This allows you to change your location to wherever your friends are in the world, and then Riot Games and VALORANT will automatically assign you to their region!

It is worth noting that you cannot use your main account once it has already been selected for a region however, so you will have to make a new account.

This is the next step, creating a new Riot Games and VALORANT account, with the VPN turned on.

This account will be locked to that region, so make sure to avoid insanely high ping, as you always have the VPN on when playing on the account with all your buddies! After all, they won’t want your Raze Paint Shells killing them when you throw it straight at a wall on Haven!

Is it possible for you do this without a VPN though?

Yes you can, but you will have ridiculously high ping!

You need to submit a ticket to Riot Games, which requests for you to change your region to whatever you desire!

This is great, until you start playing with 300 plus ping each game - so those [Jett]https://www.thespike.gg/news/haven-valorant-map-guide/3693) Operator picks on Breeze will be almost impossible to get!

When you’re playing in a different region in VALORANT you are no doubt going to get higher ping unless you use a VPN, but here are some ways you can minimize that ping difference as well!

  • Use an Ethernet cable. Wired connections will always reduce your ping slightly over wireless connections.
  • Disconnect other devices. If you have a load of devices on the same network sitting idle, then you are just wasting bandwidth! Disconnect that idle Playstation or Xbox!
  • Set priority to VALORANT. Make sure in Task Manager, VALORANT has priority set to "High."
  • Close background applications. Apps running in the background, especially downloading things will skyrocket your ping - make sure none of these are open!

Hi, my name is Eddie, I am a full-time writer and short-form video editor, with a degree in Esports! My main games are VALORANT and League of Legends, so you could say that I am at the beck and call of Riot Games! I have worked previously for a few different websites, doing various roles, such as writing, editing, and even voiceovers, but here at THESPIKE, I am an out-and-out article writer, so I can really get as much content out as I can! I graduated with my Esports degree with a 2:1, and a desire to keep going, so this was a perfect step for me, but I still can't get enough of League of Legends when I'm free.
