Apex Legends disables accolades until further announcement
A feature disabled until further notice.Apex Legends keeps changing as Respawn tests new features and listens to feedback. Some updates stay for the long term, while others leave the game if they do not work as planned. One of the latest changes affects accolades, a feature added in Season 26. Respawn has now disabled it and announced that it will remain out of the game for an indefinite period. Here is why!
Why did Apex Legends disable accolades?
Respawn added accolades with the Showdown update in Season 26. The goal was to reward moments like multiple kills, squad wipes, or clutch revives. Each accolade offered XP and encouraged players to perform well in different ways. In theory, the system made every match more engaging and gave extra motivation to progress through the Battle Pass.
The problem started when players began to report constant notifications. A bug caused accolades to appear too often, even during short fights. This filled the screen with alerts and broke focus. Instead of motivating players, accolades distracted them, making the interface feel cluttered.
At first, Respawn called the removal temporary, as seen in the image above. They planned to fix the bug and bring accolades back quickly. But after ten days of testing and community feedback, the team announced a bigger change. They said the feature “missed the mark” and will stay disabled until it can be redesigned.
What exactly are accolades in Apex Legends?
Accolades are small in-game awards. Players earn them during matches for different actions such as high damage, multiple kills, or reviving teammates. The notifications pop up on screen during play, and the XP bonus appears after the match ends.

Each accolade has four tiers. Players unlock higher tiers by repeating the same achievement in one game. For example, dealing damage with a weapon can earn multiple levels of recognition. Accolades also connect to the Accolades Collection Book, which tracks all progress in the player profile. This lets players review what they achieved over time.
The system also affects progression. Accolades can give up to 2,200 XP per day, which helps players level up their Battle Pass faster. This makes them an important part of seasonal rewards, especially for players who want to unlock skins and cosmetics before the season ends.
The feature had strong potential, but its design needed more balance. Many players asked for fewer pop-ups during fights or for accolades to show only after a match. Respawn has taken this feedback seriously, which suggests that any future version will look different from the first release.

When will accolades make a return?
Respawn first said accolades would return after a short fix. Players expected them back within a week. At the same time, the game faced other problems, such as server issues and a bug with Revenant’s abilities. These problems made it harder to release a quick solution.
After more than a week, Respawn gave another update. The team confirmed that accolades will remain disabled for an indefinite time. They plan to revisit the feature and make changes based on feedback. This means players cannot expect an immediate comeback, but Respawn has not abandoned the idea completely.
While accolades are gone for now, there is hope that a redesigned version will return and offer smoother rewards in the future. Check out more of our Apex Legends guides below:
