Apex Legends April Fools 2025 announcements
During Season 24, Respawn rolled out several updates for April Fools’ Day. On April 1, major changes came to the core Battle Royale mode. From April 2 to April 8, a separate April Fools Battle Royale playlist remained live for players who wanted to keep experiencing the altered gameplay.
The biggest highlight was the return of custom Mozambique weapons. These versions looked and performed differently from the regular Mozambique and were available across the map and in Arsenal Stations.
These Mozambique variants appeared during the event:

Several gameplay mechanics were also introduced:
- Gunfire pushed players backward, allowing fast movement through recoil.
- Gravity decreased as matches progressed, creating high-flying fights.
- Players started each match with a Mythic Respawn Token. This token revived them once after death.
- Players lost any Mythic Weapons when they respawned.
The main game mode reverted to normal after April 1, but players continued to access these changes through the limited-time playlist. The event also connected with creator content, leading into the wider Beat Mode celebration.
Beast mode event went live in Apex Legends
The April Fools event was one part of the Beat Mode event, which lasted from March 25 to April 15, 2025. Beat Mode included rotating limited-time modes, new weapons, special cosmetics, and creator-led content. Each week brought new gameplay experiences and ways for players to earn rewards.
One of the main attractions during Beat Mode was Power Sword Royale, a public limited-time mode. The event introduced a new weapon, the Power Sword. It spawned once at the start of each match and again once per round.
Power Sword features included:
- Spawning once at match start and once per round
- Delivering powerful melee attacks
- Releasing energy slashes while aiming down sights
- Providing partial damage protection while attacking

Creators played a major role during Beat Mode. From April 1 to April 7, the April Fools event was curated by Apryze, a well-known Apex Legends creator. Apryze helped design the custom mode and community challenges for that week.
Players earned rewards by completing these challenges. The total number of completed challenges influenced the number of Apex Packs available in the following week. Players needed to participate during both weeks to qualify for all rewards.
Event rewards included:
- A free Banner Frame through Twitch Drops
- A Creator-themed tracker set in the Featured Store
Creator Commissioners and their featured skins:
- April 1–14: Apryze – “Bone Breaker” Legendary Mastiff skin
- April 15–28: Kaminari Qpi – “Tombstick” Legendary Mastiff skin
To receive Twitch Drops, players must link their EA and Twitch accounts.

What happened on April Fools’ Day 2024 in Apex Legends?
The April Fools event in 2024 had many of the same features as the 2025 version. Players saw custom Mozambique weapons like Mozambrrr, Mozamburst, Mozambeam, and Mozamblam across the map. Ol’ Nessie dropped from Care Packages. Gunfire pushed players backward, and gravity became lighter as matches continued. These features returned in 2025.
But the 2024 event was smaller. It lasted only one day in the main game on April 1. From April 2 to April 8, players could play a separate April Fools mode. The Mixtape playlist also changed, and all loadouts used Mozambique variants. This feature did not come back in 2025.

There were no creator-led challenges, no Power Sword mode, and no Twitch Drops in 2024. Players also could not unlock cosmetic rewards like they did this year.
Apex Legends continued its tradition of creative April Fools events with the 2025 edition. Instead of focusing only on jokes, Respawn designed a full experience with variety and replay value. With rotating weapons like the Mozamburst, the introduction of the Power Sword, and new ways to earn rewards, players had many reasons to log in and try something new. The addition of the Mythic Respawn Token, gravity shifts, and custom recoil movement helped create a fun and chaotic break from the usual format.
