Revenant is one of the most iconic in Apex Legends, but many players were surprised when Revenant suddenly disappeared from the game in Season 25. This happened just after a big update that introduced new content. Players expected new challenges and balance changes, but they didn’t expect a major legend like Revenant to be removed. So, why is Revenant not in Apex Legends? Is it back yet? Check out below!

    Who is Revenant in Apex?

Revenant is a deadly assassin in Apex Legends. He first joined the game in Season 4. Before turning into a machine, he was a human hitman named Kaleb Cross. Hammond Robotics turned him into a simulacrum, a robot with a human mind. When he learned the truth, he began to hunt those who created him.

In his early days, Revenant had abilities that focused on stealth and control. He could move faster while crouching, climb higher, and throw a device that silenced enemy abilities. His Ultimate ability, the Death Totem, brought players back to life with 50 health after they were knocked down.

Over time, his pick rate stayed low. Many players liked his story, but his old abilities didn’t work well with the game’s pace, leading to a full rework of the character. Some fans on Reddit still say that they miss the old character, while others are more than happy for the change.

Why is Revenant not in Apex Legends?

Respawn removed Revenant from Apex Legends during Season 25 because of a serious bug. His new Ultimate ability, Forged Shadows, had a glitch that made him invincible. This gave him an unfair advantage, especially in Ranked mode.

The bug allowed Revenant to take no damage after activating his Ultimate and getting hit by a grenade. A popular YouTuber named bobz showed how this worked in a video. Once players learned how to do it, the bug started spreading fast. Revenant could rush enemy teams without taking any damage. You can find the popular YouTuber’s video below:

The issue appeared across several game modes, forcing Respawn to remove him from the game completely. They removed his icon from the Legend selection screen and shared the news on social media. The team said they were working on a fix but did not give a clear timeline for his return.

This bug was one of many issues after the Season 25 launch. Another bug caused games to crash when the new Legend Sparrow used his Tactical on Mirage’s Ultimate. Respawn fixed that one quickly. However, the Revenant issue was more serious and needed a full removal.

    Is Revenant back in Apex?

Yes, Revenant is now back in Apex Legends.

Respawn fixed the bug and added Revenant back to the game on May 13. They also said they took action against players who abused the glitch before the fix. This means accounts that used the bug repeatedly could face penalties.

The fix made Revenant’s Ultimate work as intended. He no longer becomes invincible during Forged Shadows. Players can now pick him again in all game modes.

What happened to the old Revenant?

The old version of Revenant no longer exists. In Season 18, called Resurrection, Respawn gave Revenant a full rework. He is now known as Revenant Reborn. This was more than just a balance update. It was a complete redesign of his role and abilities.

Revenant Reborn fits better into the current meta. His new abilities encourage fast movement and aggressive play. He now helps his team more and survives longer in fights.

    • Assassin’s Instinct (Passive): Revenant moves faster when crouching and climbs higher. He also marks enemies with low health, helping his team finish fights quickly.
    • Shadow Pounce (Tactical): He can leap forward, like using a jump pad. Holding the ability button charges the leap for more distance.
    • Forged Shadows (Ultimate): He gets a shield that blocks damage. It also gives him back his Tactical ability when he knocks down an enemy. The shield regenerates over time.

These updates made Revenant much stronger. Players now use him more often, and his role in the game feels more important. You can read more about his full rework on the Revenant Reborn page here.

Why did they change Revenant in Apex?

Revenant had a unique design, but his old abilities were not very effective. Players liked his style, but he didn’t fit well in the fast-paced matches. His pick rate was low, and his skills didn’t help him win enough fights.

Many players avoided using his old Ultimate, the Death Totem, because it was hard to time correctly. His Tactical ability also had problems. It was hard to use, and players didn’t always know if it worked.

Respawn wanted to fix this. They designed the new Revenant to be more aggressive and easier to use. The lead legend designer, Devan McGuire, explained that Revenant needed stronger tools to match his role. The new version rewards players who like to hunt enemies and take control of fights.

After the rework, Revenant’s pick rate increased by almost 100%. This showed that the new kit worked. Players enjoyed his faster movement, stronger presence, and better survival tools. He became one of the most-used Legends in the game.

Revenant’s removal and return in Season 25 shows how fast things can change in Apex Legends. Bugs, updates, and balance changes are a big part of live-service games. Respawn acted quickly to protect fair play and restore balance. Now, Revenant is back with his full power and updated kit.

I started writing here in 2021, but my first gig was back in 2018. That was when I realized people actually get paid to write about games. I’ve written thousands of articles for different media outlets, led teams, and conducted interviews with players.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
