A player's listed potential is still useful as a starting reference, but development is more closely connected to what actually happens during your save.

Dynamic OVR allows Overall Rating to change during a season. Form, morale, and fitness are central factors, while injuries, playing time, and competition for places can also affect a player's current level.
 

That matters enormously for wonderkids.

Buying several high-potential players for the same position and leaving most of them on the bench isn't necessarily an effective development strategy. A young player needs opportunities and a squad role that gives him a realistic path into the team.

Dynamic Potential pushes this further by connecting performance with longer-term development. Consistently outperforming expectations can benefit a player's trajectory, while extended poor form can work in the opposite direction.

FC 27 also introduces six Growth Profiles, creating different career curves instead of making every player develop, peak, and decline at essentially the same stages.

Potential should therefore be treated as part of your decision, not the entire decision.

How to scout wonderkids in EA FC 27

Scouting has changed as well.

Player attributes are immediately visible, removing the old process of waiting for scouts to slowly reveal basic ratings. Scouts instead investigate four additional areas:

The first rule is simple: don't sign a wonderkid you have no plan to play.

Regular minutes become particularly important when form, morale, and opportunity can feed into Dynamic OVR and longer-term development.

Before completing a transfer, ask three questions:

1. Can he realistically get minutes?
2. Does the player fit the positions and roles in my system?
3. Am I buying current ability, future growth, or both?

A player such as Yamal doesn't need protection. He can immediately become the centerpiece of your attack.

Someone such as Yan Diomande is different. His +9 growth is a major reason to sign him, so your squad planning should create enough opportunities for that development to happen.
