Summit is VALORANT's newest map, arriving with Season 2026 // Act 4. Set in a Radiant training academy hidden in the mountains of China, Summit introduces one of the game's most unique mechanics yet: droppable walls that permanently change the map during a round.

What is the VALORANT Summit map?

Summit is VALORANT's 13th standard 5v5 map. It follows the classic two Spike Site, three-lane layout, but adds dynamic map changes through interactive walls.

According to Riot Games lore, Summit is a former Radiant monastery where Sage trained before joining the VALORANT Protocol. The map features training halls, meditation gardens, and mountain scenery throughout the battlefield.

Summit's unique mechanic: Droppable walls

The biggest feature of Summit is its three droppable walls. You'll find one at:

• A Site
• Mid
• B Site Players can activate these walls by shooting nearby switches. Once triggered, the wall drops and permanently blocks that route for the rest of the round. Unlike doors on Lotus or teleports on Bind, these walls cannot be reopened, meaning every decision permanently changes rotations and sightlines.

How the walls affect gameplay

The walls aren't simply obstacles—they completely change how each round develops. Dropping a wall can:

• Remove important sightlines
• Create safer plants
• Force enemies into chokepoints
• Change post-plant positions

If you're attacking on Summit:

• Take Mid control early to pressure both sites and force defenders to split their attention.
• Use utility to clear tight angles before committing, especially around choke points created by walls.
• Time your wall drops with your execute to isolate defenders and cut off rotations.
• Fake pressure on one side before committing to the other, especially if a wall has already been used.
• Play for post-plant setups by controlling key lanes instead of overextending. Smart coordination and timing around wall usage will often decide whether your attack succeeds or stalls out. If you go directly, you might be eliminated very soon.

Best tips for defending

On defense:

• Hold Mid control early to gather information and slow down attacker setups.
• Delay wall activations until you have clear information on where the attack is coming from.
• Use utility to stall pushes through narrow corridors and chokepoints.
• Communicate rotations clearly, especially after a wall has been dropped.
• Play retake setups if necessary, using remaining open lanes to regroup with your team. Defenders who stay patient and use walls reactively rather than immediately will have a much stronger chance of controlling the round.

Is Summit in Competitive?

Yes. Unlike some previous releases, Summit entered the Competitive map pool immediately after launch. To help players learn the map, Riot introduced temporary Ranked Rating protection during the first two weeks. During this period:

• Wins grant 100% RR
• Losses only remove 50% RR on Summit This encourages players to learn the map without being heavily punished for early mistakes.

For the first seven days after release, Riot also added a Summit Only playlist.

This queue uses the Swiftplay format, allowing players to quickly learn:
