Fortnite fans, Epic Games finally heard your wishes and according to the latest news, Fortnite OG is coming back to the game as a mode and more importantly, it is not going to be available for a limited-time! Fortnite OG takes you back to the early days of this epic game. The original maps and items are back, and players can relive the moments that shaped Fortnite's early success. Here is everything you need to know about the highly-awaited game mode!

    What is Fortnite OG?

Fortnite OG takes players back to the game's early days by bringing back maps from Chapter One’s seasons, from Season Five to Season X. This special season offers both new and longtime players a chance to experience the game as it was in the beginning. Fortnite OG also includes old weapons, vehicles, and items that were part of the game back then. This season even had its own Battle Pass, though it was shorter than usual, filled with rewards that brought back memories of the game's early days.

OG Fortnite to return very soon

The Fortnite community is buzzing with excitement as Epic Games has announced that Fortnite OG will return on December 6, 2024. Originally, Fortnite OG was a throwback to the game's first map and it was very popular, attracting many players. This time, OG Fortnite will be a permanent addition to the game, starting from Chapter 1: Season 1.

The game will cycle through each of the seasons, letting players explore the original map and use the original loot. This means items that were removed from the game will be available again. All of the Fortnite OG weapons are expected to be available once the mode launches officially. Players will also be able to visit well-known places like Pleasant Park and Loot Lake. However, some popular spots like Tilted Towers won't be included at first, as they weren't part of the game until later seasons. Epic Games plans to keep adding new content and seasons, but now players can also enjoy the classic versions of the game whenever they like.

    Fortnite OG Map

Fortnite OG lasted for a couple of seasons which means there are plenty of OG maps that you could play in the game. However, the first season’s map is accepted as the real “OG” map among fans as it lit the first fire and gathered all these players around. Here is the Fortnite OG map from the first season:

The Fortnite OG map brings back beloved locations from the early chapters of the game. This map is different from the current versions because it does not change; it stays the same as it was originally. Players will recognize places like Pleasant Park, Loot Lake, and Tomato Town. Is zero build mode coming to Fortnite OG?

The updated Fortnite OG is expected to include a Zero Build mode. This mode removes the building features that were added in 2022 and goes back to the basics of the game. It is rumored that this update will be announced at The Game Awards 2024. The update might also bring in new seasonal changes every month while keeping the classic feel of the OG map. However, we still don’t have any official information regarding the Zero Build mode. We have to wait for the official announcement by Epic Games to approve this information.

When was the first Fortnite OG?

The period known as Fortnite OG covers the early years of the game, from its launch in 2017 to the start of 2020. This was when Chapter 2 Season 1 began, bringing a new way of releasing content that Epic Games still uses today. This era was a groundbreaking time for Fortnite. You may hear seasoned Fortnite players how they miss this era of the game and Epic Games has finally heard them.

What does OG mean in Fortnite?

In Fortnite, "OG" stands for "Original." It refers to players and elements from the game’s early days. You are considered an OG if you have been playing since Chapter One, Season Four. Being called an OG is a sign of being part of the game for a long time. Many people assume “OG” means “Original Gangster.” This is a highly used abbreviation, especially in the United States but the abbreviation Fortnite players use is unrelated.

    Is OG Fortnite coming back?

Yes, Fortnite OG is definitely coming back. This time, it will not just be a limited-time event but a permanent mode in the game. Starting on December 6, players will be able to continuously enjoy the content from the first ten seasons of Fortnite. This allows longtime fans and new players alike to experience the game as it was in the beginning whenever they want.

    Is OG Fortnite staying?

Yes, according to Epic Games’ announcement, OG Fortnite will remain as a playable game mode for a long time.

Fortnite OG permanently brings back the game's first chapters, keeping the history of Fortnite alive. This mix of old favorites and new features shows why Fortnite is still a favorite for many. Check out these Fortnite guides too:

    Fortnite OG Season 6

Fortnite OG Season 6 continues Epic’s nostalgic journey through Chapter 1, giving players a chance to relive one of the most iconic eras of the game. Scheduled to begin on October 3, 2025, this season picks up right after the OG Season 5 rotation, and just like previous OG seasons, it lasts about eight weeks. That means it will run through October and November, keeping players hooked with a steady flow of throwback content.

The OG mode is separate from the main Fortnite experience, focusing entirely on the classic Chapter 1 map, weapons, and mechanics. Season 6 is expected to bring back some of the original Season 6 features, such as areas influenced by the floating island and corrupted zones, as well as fan-favorite weapons and items from that time period. These elements help recreate the feel of Fortnite’s earlier days while still keeping the game fresh for returning and new players.

Like other OG seasons, players will be able to purchase the OG Pass for 1,000 V-Bucks. Unlike the main Battle Pass, this one doesn’t give back V-Bucks as rewards. Instead, it focuses on exclusive OG cosmetics tied to Chapter 1’s history. With the success of past OG seasons, Fortnite OG Season 6 is set to be another major nostalgia hit, blending retro gameplay with a modern twist.
