It’s no secret that skins in Fortnite can get pretty pricey, especially when they’re part of one of the celebrated crossover events. So it’s no surprise that you’re here, looking for a way to bag some free swag and save some V-Bucks.

And we’re here to help! Though be warned, unlike free cosmetics, free skins in Fortnite are a rare sight.

To get a free skin in Fortnite…

You’ll have to be on your toes, because Fortnite generally offers free skins as rewards for participating in certain events and completing challenges.

Which means timing and commitment from you if you’re serious about getting that free skin.

Exactly what you’ve got to do can vary…

During Winterfest 2022, you could get Sled Ready Guff and Arctic Adeline just by opening presents in the event – all that took was picking the right present and logging in daily for another free present.

Other free skins take more work, like completing the Find the Force quests to unlock the Star Wars Clone Trooper skin, or ranking high in a crossover cup. And some, like Sultura, are exclusive to players who are members of PS Plus on PS4 or 5.

Can you get free skin codes?

Not often. Free skin codes tend to only happen as part of social media giveaways. We recommend you avoid looking for free codes online as more often than not, it’s a scam.

Can you actually get free V-Bucks in Fortnite?

Yes, but only through official means like playing modes and completing challenges. The Save the World PvE mode (if you already own it) gives V-Buck rewards for daily login, missions, and completing campaigns. The Battle Pass—both free and premium tiers—also awards V-Bucks as you level up. You can earn extra V-Bucks through special timed missions, in-game events, and reward programs like Microsoft Rewards or giveaways—never through generators or hacks, which are scams.

How do I claim Fortnite skin codes?

To redeem a Fortnite skin code:
