The popular game Roblox was banned in Qatar, according to players in the region. The app is still available to download on iOS and Android, but when users try to log in, they see error messages such as “No Network. Please try when connected to the internet” or “This site can’t be reached.” Roblox has not released an official statement about the situation. It is not clear if the block will last permanently or if negotiations may open the door for its return. Here is why Roblox was banned in Qatar!

Why is Roblox banned in Qatar?

Authorities in Qatar banned Roblox after complaints about child safety and cultural concerns. Reports in local outlets such as Al Watan and Al Sharq explained that parents and community groups wanted the platform restricted, according to Qatar Tribune. They argued that Roblox allows children to enter digital spaces that may expose them to inappropriate content and unsafe interactions.

According to Al Jasra news, there were reports of virtual assaults and violations of local traditions and religious values.

Technology and AI researcher Bahaa Al Ahmad said Roblox should be seen as a digital space that mirrors real-life interactions, says The Gamer. He pointed out that such spaces can affect how children think and behave. This perspective added weight to the belief that Roblox poses risks that go beyond entertainment.

For now, Roblox stays blocked in Qatar. Some players argue that stricter parental controls or new age limits could have been an alternative to a full ban. Turkey followed a similar path in 2024 when it first banned Roblox but later allowed it back after talks with the company. A similar outcome in Qatar is still uncertain.

    Which countries banned Roblox?

Qatar is the latest country to ban Roblox, but it is not alone. Several other nations have already restricted access for reasons linked to safety, culture, or politics.

As of August 2025, Roblox is banned in:

    • Turkey – Blocked in 2024 because of safety concerns but later restored after discussions.
    • Qatar – Blocked in 2025 over child safety and cultural values.
    • Oman – Banned around 2020.
    • China – Restricted under national internet rules.
    • Jordan – Blocked by local authorities.
    • North Korea – Not accessible due to wider restrictions on global platforms.

These bans show that countries treat Roblox differently depending on local laws and priorities. In some cases, bans are temporary and later lifted, while in others, they remain permanent.

    Why do countries ban Roblox?

Roblox faces bans for several main reasons. Governments focus on both safety and cultural issues.

    • Child protection: Many bans come from fear that children face harmful content or unsafe interactions.
    • Cultural and religious values: Some countries believe Roblox content violates traditions or moral codes.
    • Regulatory limits: Nations such as China restrict foreign platforms under local internet policies.

    Examples include:

    • Qatar: Blocked Roblox after reports of virtual assaults and violations of cultural values.
    • Turkey: Initially banned Roblox due to child safety issues but later restored it.
    • China: Restricted access under broad content control laws.
    • Oman and Jordan: Blocked Roblox for reasons tied to safety and morality.

These examples show that bans often mix genuine safety concerns with political or cultural decisions.

    Which countries allow Roblox?

Apart from the countries listed above, Roblox is available almost everywhere else. Players across North America, Europe, South America, Africa, and most of Asia continue to play without restriction.

Roblox has over 1.5 billion downloads worldwide and was the most-downloaded gaming app on Google Play in June 2025. Its large global reach shows that despite bans in certain regions, the platform continues to expand and attract new players.

    Does Roblox work in UAE?

Yes, Roblox works in the United Arab Emirates today. The country banned it between 2018 and 2021 because of child safety concerns, but the restriction was later removed. Players in the UAE can now access Roblox normally through official app stores and the website.

    Does Roblox support Arabic?

Yes, Roblox supports Arabic. This makes it easier for players in the Middle East and North Africa to enjoy the game. Users can change the language from the settings menu.

    To switch to Arabic:

    1. Open Roblox and log in.
    2. Go to Settings from the gear icon.
    3. Select Language.
    4. Choose Arabic.
    5. Save changes.

The Arabic option shows Roblox’s effort to reach more players worldwide. It also reflects the platform’s growth in regions where Arabic is widely spoken.

Onur Demirkol here, content writer for THESPIKEGG. I have been around for a very long time now, you may have seen me in the comments.

I started writing here in 2021, but my first gig was back in 2018. That was when I realized people actually get paid to write about games. I’ve written thousands of articles for different media outlets, led teams, and conducted interviews with players.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
