Rocket League Pentathlon: Format, rewards, and more
A challenge like no other in Rocket League.Rocket League is turning 10 years old, and Psyonix has prepared one of the biggest updates in the game’s history. Season 19 is designed as a three-part celebration that runs from June 18 to September 17, 2025. The Pentathlon is different from anything Rocket League has done before. Let’s take a closer look at all the details!
What is the Rocket League Pentathlon event?
The Pentathlon event begins on August 21, 2025, and runs until September 17 as part of Season 19’s final stage. It was created to celebrate Rocket League’s history while giving players something new. Over the years, Rocket League has expanded from its classic 3v3 Soccar into many different modes such as Hoops, Dropshot, and Rumble. The Pentathlon brings this diversity into one structured competition.
Unlike standard tournaments, where the format stays the same from start to finish, the Pentathlon challenges players with five unique matches. To succeed, a team must be able to switch strategies and mechanics quickly.
This event also connects directly to Rocket League’s competitive season. It arrives alongside the Echo Chase event, Champions Road, and the Rocket League World Championship in Lyon, France.

Format and other details explained
The Pentathlon keeps the familiar tournament bracket system but changes how rounds are played. Every stage of the bracket uses a different mode. For example, one round may begin with Hoops, and the next could switch to Rumble or Dropshot. This continues until the final match, where the best team must prove it can succeed in every mode.
The order of the modes is not fixed. Some players may face unique rounds with experimental limited-time modes, while others may see a mix of traditional options. This prevents players from predicting the flow of the event and keeps each tournament fresh.
Match sizes also vary. Teams may play in 3v3 setups for some rounds and switch to 2v2 formats in others. This forces squads to adjust their strategies and communication on the fly. A team that dominates standard 3v3 cannot rely on the same approach in a smaller 2v2 match.
The Pentathlon focuses on adaptability. Players must handle different mechanics, ball physics, and arena setups.
Alongside the Pentathlon, Part 3 of Season 19 introduces:
- Echo Items, which spread by bumping into other players in Echo Playlists.
- Champions Road, beginning September 4, with its own limited-time mode called Jump Jam.
- A direct lead-in to the Rocket League World Championship, taking place from September 9 to September 14.
Together, these events create a packed and competitive ending for Season 19.
What game modes are included?
Psyonix has not officially listed a set of game modes for the Pentathlon. What is clear is that there will always be five different modes per tournament. Community reports suggest that some of the most common modes include:
- Soccar (3v3): The standard Rocket League mode where teams aim to score goals in traditional arenas.
- 2v2: A smaller version of Soccar that requires tighter teamwork and individual skill.
- Hoops: A basketball-style mode where players shoot into hoops instead of nets.
- Rumble: A chaotic mode with power-ups such as grappling hooks, boxing gloves, and spikes.
- Dropshot: A unique format where players break floor tiles to create scoring zones.
Other community accounts mention experimental rounds with modes like Split Shot or special Rocket Labs arenas. Since the order and mix change from one tournament to another, no two Pentathlons are exactly the same.
All rewards and titles
The Pentathlon uses Rocket League’s regular Tournament Reward system. Players who participate and advance through the rounds earn Tournament Credits. These can be spent on exclusive items introduced in Season 19. Some players still chase legacy items, such as the Battle Bus from past crossover events.
This season’s rewards include items inspired by mystical themes such as the Genie’s Lamp Topper, the Pharaoh Decal, and the Magic Lamp Goal Explosion. These rewards are not exclusive to Pentathlon and are part of the broader Season 19 tournament pool.
Players can also unlock login rewards tied to each stage of the season:
- From June 18 to September 17: Nice Shot! Goal Explosion
- From July 7 to September 17: Cristiano (Gold) Wheels
- From July 16 to September 17: Gold Crush Boost
- From August 21 to September 17: Anniversary Formal Octane Decal
In addition, the Season 19 Rocket Pass gives access to two new car bodies: the Xentari muscle car, unlocked immediately with the premium pass, and the Breakout X sports car, unlocked later in the pass. Both cars are Rocket League originals and feature classic Octane and Breakout hitboxes.
