How do you get gun skins?

In VALORANT, getting gun skins involves a trip to the in-game store.

From there, you can browse and buy the selection of individual gun skins currently available (the store rotates its stock every 24 hours). Or you can buy one of the current skin bundles, to add multiple new gun skins to your VALORANT collection.

Or you can purchase the paid track of the current Battle Pass for 1000 VP (roughly $10). This won’t get you a new skin directly, but as you then progress through the Battle Pass challenges, you’ll earn XP, climb the tiers, and unlock new skins as you do.

You make in-game purchases with VALORANT Points (VP), which you will need to spend real-world money to acquire.

? Top tip – a lot of savvy players follow the likes of ValorLeaks and ValorantUpdated, to keep up with any info leaks for new gun skins so they can better manage their VP funds.

How much are gun skins in VALORANT?

Every gun skin is categorized into a tier list which gives an instant idea of how much skins in that tier will cost.

Keep in mind…

• You can’t buy VP in custom amounts, only in pre-set increments.
• Those increments vary depending on which region you’re in (e.g. $5, $10, $20, $35, $50, and $100).
• Buying VP in bulk usually gives you a bonus to your total VP.

This all makes 100% accurate real-world prices for skins trickier than a Rubix cube, so we’ve added a ballpark figure to each of these tiers.

These ballpark figures assume the following:

1. You currently have 0 VP.
2. You purchase the most cost-efficient VP increments for a gun skin in this tier.
3. You receive any expected VP bonuses for a bulk VP purchase.

You can tell which tier a gun skin belongs to by the marker beside its name.

Here are those tiers for easy reference:

Ultra Edition

• Identification marker: a yellow diamond
• Individual gun skin cost: 2475 VP (roughly $25)
• Skin bundle cost: 9900 VP (roughly $100)

Exclusive Edition

• Identification marker: an upside-down orange pentagon
• Individual gun skin cost: 2175 - 2675 VP (between $25 – $30)
• Skin bundle cost: 8700 – 10700 VP (between $85 – $100)

Skins in the Ultra or Exclusive Edition tiers are the most expensive gun skins in VALORANT, but you’ll find some choice fan-favorites in the next tier down: Premium Edition.

Premium Edition

• Identification marker: an upside-down pink triangle
• Individual skin cost: 1775 VP (roughly $20)
• Skin bundle cost: 7100 VP (roughly $70)

You’ll find the cheapest gun skins in the following base-level tiers.

Deluxe Edition

• Identification marker: a green rhombus
• Individual skin cost: 1275 VP (roughly $15)
• Skin bundle cost: 5100 VP (roughly $50)

Select Edition

• Identification marker: a blue circle
• Individual skin cost: 875 VP (roughly $10)
• Skin bundle cost: 2930 – 3500 VP (between $30 and $35)

Are there any free gun skins?

If even the cheapest gun skins are too pricey for you right now, you have a few options.

The main method involves Agent Rewards.

VALORANT lets players get free gun skins by playing the game, earning Kingdom Credits, and using them to unlock agent gun skins. Fade, Jett, Harbor, Reyna – every agent has their own uniquely designed gun skin.

Can you refund a gun skin?

Per Riot Games’ terms, you can only refund unused, base-level skins bought in the last 14 days.

How many gun skins are in VALORANT?

Since Riot regularly releases new skins, this is an ever-evolving number. Still, at the time of writing, there are at least 672 different weapon skins in total, including melee.

Generally, every skin theme includes designs for between three and five weapons in total.

Do gun skins make you better?

Some VALORANT players insist that certain gun skins do give an advantage to those that use them.

Still… most players consider this more of an urban legend than a fact.

It’s easy to think the skin is the reason you’re either getting fragged to buggery or racking up more aces than a rigged deck of cards. Truth is, some days are just better than others, and some players are like demigods while others still have their training wheels on.
