How to enable 2FA on Fortnite

Warning - your favorite skins are at risk! Thieves are at your locker door… but with 2FA on your side, they won’t get in.
It’s not just a safety protocol though, enabling two-factor authentication on Fortnite benefits you as more than just a digital shield. And it’s not even nearly as much of a faff as you might think it is.
Hey, have we ever led you astray? Stick around for a minute, this one’s more important than you think…
What is 2FA, anyway?
Two-factor authentication, aka 2FA, is a security measure designed to give your account additional security. Maybe you’ve heard its other name – multi-factor authentication?
No? Ok, well trust us when we say, you’ve experienced it before.
You know when you log into an account and get a text, push notification, or email with a code or button to hit and confirm it was you who logged in?
Yeah, that’s 2FA at work, mate.
Yes, it means logging into Fortnite will take a little bit longer every time, but trust us – you won’t be complaining about the extra security when it keeps all your rare skins safe!
Why should you care about it?
You’d have thought that a second layer of authentication making your accounts harder to hack would be reason enough. Buuuut it isn’t. At least not for some people (though anyone who plays a lot and has a locker crammed with top-notch gear usually doesn’t need convincing to safeguard their hard-earned swag!).
But see, the guys over at Fortnite Towers (totally a real place, don’t Google it 👀) know that some players are reluctant. They know some people just don’t trust acronyms…
That’s why they make it extra worth your while to enable 2FA on your Fortnite account.
So if keeping your account and password and swag safe isn’t reason enough, here’s what else you get for activating 2FA…
- The ability to gift items to other Fortnite players.
- Access to compete in tournaments.
- The most excellent Boogie Down emote.
- 50 armory slots, 10 backpack slots, and a Legendary Troll Stash Llama for Save the World.

How do you enable 2FA on Fortnite?
Ah, convinced now, are we? Good! You should be.
Thankfully, it couldn’t be easier to get 2FA to protect your Fortnite account. Here’s how…
- Log into your Epic Games account.
- Go to the Password & Security settings.
- Scroll down to the “Two-Factor Authentication” options.
- Click the “Set Up” button for your preferred 2FA security method.
- Follow the setup process, and enter any code they send you to complete the setup process.
- Test your 2FA login is working properly by logging out/into Fortnite again.
Choose whichever 2FA measure feels most secure to you. If you don’t already have an authenticator app, you’re probably better off using email or SMS for your 2FA, but they all work as well as each other, so it’s up to you!
Since your Epic Games account is used whether you’re playing Fortnite on PC, PS4, or Xbox, you’ll follow these same steps to turn on 2FA no matter what platform you play on.
