How to get Blue Essence fast in League of Legends?
Getting Blue Essence in League of Legends can be confusing. Here's a guide on how to get Blue Essence quickly and what to spend it on.ON THIS PAGE:

It takes a lot of toiling to achieve a lot of desirable elements in League of Legends, and one of these elements is Blue Essence (BE)—one of the primary in-game resources in League of Legends. In its essence, Blue Essence isn’t typically the desirable objective, but it represents the means in which you can get to these desirable objectives, such as new Champions, upgrading mastery tokens, and much more.
Not many League of Legends players have much time to spend grinding towards accumulating as much Blue Essence as they can, which is understandable. And that’s exactly why today’s League of Legends guide is covering how Blue Essence is obtained, and what are the fastest ways of getting it.
What is Blue Essence?
Blue Essence is one of the primary in-game resources in League of Legends. It was introduced all the way back in Season 6 as a replacement to the now-obsolete Influence Points (IP). Yeah, believe it or not, League of Legends used to function very differently when it came to Runes and Champions and such. Blue Essence is most commonly used to craft Champion Shards into a Full Champion. However, Blue Essence can also be used to upgrade Mystery Tokens, directly buy Champions, buy Eternals, and finally unlock Skin Chromas during the bi-annually held Essence Emporium.
Can you buy Blue Essence with money?

Of course, the fastest available way to achieve certain resources is to directly buy them, but this isn’t the case with Blue Essence. Blue Essence, unlike Riot Points (RP), cannot be purchased with real money. Additionally, it should be obvious that you cannot buy Blue Essence with RP either—at least not directly.
If you plan to exchange some RP for Blue Essence, you can just buy an Event Pass and use the Event Tokens to purchase Random Champion Shards, and then disenchant these champion shards in exchange for some Blue Essence. You can also buy chests, which sometimes drop some Blue Essence, but I would advise against that as it’s essentially a waste of money for very little return. You can also buy XP Boosts with RP, which in turn help you level up faster and obtain more champion capsules. Speaking of which, let's go further into detail on the ways in which you can obtain Blue Essence more quickly.
How to get Blue Essence fast?
There’s a lot of ways to get Blue Essence in League of Legends, not all of them are efficient though. Essentially, you can get Blue Essence through the following ways:
- Leveling up
- Hextech Crafting
- Event Missions
- Event Pass Tokens
- Honor rewards
- Daily Missions
Some aspects aren’t worth delving into, such as daily missions; it gives you around 50 Blue Essence every 24 hours for winning a game daily, which isn’t exactly what I’d call fast. However, some others are way more rewarding and should not be ignored.
Leveling up and Hextech Crafting

As you progress through the game, you will gain Experience Points (XP) and level up your account. Each time you level up after Level 5, you'll receive a Champion Capsule that contains various rewards, including Blue Essence. Every 10 levels, you'll receive a "Glorious Champion Capsule," which is essentially a larger and more rewarding Champion Capsule.
However, the value isn't just in how much Blue Essence is dropped, but also in the champion shards that come in each of these capsules. You can disenchant the champion shards from these capsules, which in turn will give you 20% of that champion's price in Blue Essence, effectively earning you anywhere from 90 to 1480 Blue Essence depending on the champion's price.
Of course, some champion shards are worth keeping if you're interested in purchasing the champion. But if you're trying to accumulate Blue Essence, you should consider disenchanting some of your champion shards.
Opening Hextech/Masterwork Chests also gives you a good amount of Blue Essence, but these aren't usually a source that you can consistently rely on if you're looking to get Blue Essence as quickly as possible in League of Legends.
Event Missions and Tokens

As you might’ve already known, Riot Games hosts many in-game events throughout the season. These events are usually already packed with lucrative rewards for completing their missions, including a lot of Blue Essence. But what if I tell you that there’s more Blue Essence to it than what you get from missions alone?
Participating in these events grants you more desirable resources, including Grab Bags, Event Orbs, and Event Tokens. While most players will choose to invest the Event Tokens in more Event Orbs, you can choose otherwise, purchasing Random Champion Shards to accelerate stashing your Blue Essence. Although it can be done without purchasing the Event Pass, it’s way more effective if you have it as it gives you more tokens than you know what to do with.
You can also directly buy Blue Essence with Event Tokens, but again, I would advise against it as it doesn’t give as much value as you’d normally get from Random Champion Shards.
Honor rewards

Who would’ve thought that players used to earn Blue Essence just by acting like a reasonably polite person? Yes, back then, you could get Blue Essence through the Honor system by honoring teammates and receiving honors in return. As players moved up from Honor Level 3, they received Honor Capsules. These capsules mostly included Key Fragments and Champion Shards that could be disenchanted for Blue Essence.
The system didn’t stop at capsules either. It also gave out Honor Orbs, which were smaller versions of the capsules. Players earned them more often by passing Honor Checkpoints. Just like the capsules, these orbs contained Key Fragments and Champion Shards.
The best advice at the time for leveling up the Honor system was to honor random teammates. That method took the longest, but it still gave better rewards than the small amount of Blue Essence earned from daily wins.
However, Riot Games has now discontinued the Honor rewards. Players no longer receive capsules or orbs through the Honor system, and the Blue Essence path through this feature is no longer active.
Can I buy Blue Essence with RP?
You cannot buy Blue Essence with RP. Riot keeps these two currencies separate. Blue Essence comes from playing the game. You get it by leveling up, opening champion capsules, or disenchanting champion shards.
RP is the paid currency. Players use it to buy skins, event passes, and other premium items. There is no option in the store to turn RP into Blue Essence. Riot wants Blue Essence to reward time in the game, not money spent.
Can you buy skins for Blue Essence?
You cannot buy most skins with Blue Essence. Riot sells skins for RP, which is the paid currency in the game. But there is one event where Blue Essence works for skins.
Twice a year, Riot opens the Blue Essence Emporium. During this event, you can buy special items like chromas, icons, ward skins, and some rare or old skins. These items are not part of the regular store and only show up during the event.
