How to get Mythic Essence in League of Legends

Over the decade and few more years that League of Legends has existed in, it proved to be an ever-evolving game, constantly introducing new features and elements to keep its community engaged. One of these elements is Mythic Essence. What is it? How to get it? Buckle up, as these questions and more like them will be our focus in this League of Legends guide. Let’s start by understanding what exactly Mythic Essence is.

What is Mythic Essence in League of Legends?

Since League of Legends is, as we've mentioned, an ever-evolving game, Mythic Essence was introduced in Season 12 as a replacement to Gemstones and Prestige Points. It is a rare and potent in-game currency in League of Legends, primarily used to craft a variety of items, including but not limited to: Unvaulted Mythic Skins, Prestige Skins, Emotes, Random Skin Shards, Blue Essence, etc. These items are mostly cosmetic, except maybe the Blue Essence (which can be used to buy Champions or craft Permanent Champions from Champion Shards).

Acquiring Mythic Essence is not a straightforward process, but with the right ways, you can accumulate this resource and unlock the full potential of your champions.

How to Earn Mythic Essence in League of Legends?
 

There’s a multitude of ways you can earn Mythic Essence. Although, as I mentioned before, it’s not a straightforward process, it’s still a possible one. Unlike Blue Essence or Orange Essence, obtaining Mythic Essence is a slow process that will take time and a ton of effort. Also, unlike Riot Points (RP), you can’t buy Mythic Essence directly.

However, while you can’t directly buy Mythic Essence like you can with RP, you can buy Event passes that will, in turn, give you goods. The amount of Mythic Essence from the Event Pass has varied over time, with some events offering more or less. In the new seasonal pass model, only the most expensive pass will contain 25 Mythic Essence as a reward. Buying Event passes is currently the fastest way to accumulate Mythic Essence, but it’s not the only way. Other ways include:
 

• Leveling Up: The most fundamental way to earn Mythic Essence is to level up. Every 50 levels that you accumulate after level 150 will earn you a Glorious Champion Capsule that contains Mythic Essence. It’s a really slow method but a consistent one, unlike the next ones.
• Hextech Chests: Opening up Hextech Chests has a chance of giving you 10 Mythic Essence; a 2.68% chance to be exact. It’s most likely the source that will give you the most Mythic Essence since Hextech Chests are frequently earned throughout each season.
• Masterwork Chests: Yeah, these too. Opening up a Masterwork Chest has the same 4.2% chance of dropping Mythic Essence. However, instead of 10, it’s 5 for Masterwork Chests. Why? Because they’re a bit more OP in their drops in every other aspect, unlike Hextech Chests. Also, because of the Loot Milestone system that’s related to Masterwork Chests. Which transitions us to the next point.
• Reaching Loot Milestones: Open up enough Masterwork Chests and you’ll get more Mythic Essence, even if it doesn’t drop in your chest. Loot Milestones give various amounts of Mythic Essence, depending on the event. For example, with 3 Capsules: 5 ME, with 5 Capsules: 15 ME, with 10 Capsules: 20 ME, with 15 Capsules: 25 ME, with 20 Capsules: 30 ME. Fortunately, it’s a repeating goal, so you won’t have to worry about finishing it and not being able to collect Mythic Essence via Loot Milestones for the rest of the season.

What is the fastest way to get Mythic Essence?

Event passes remain the fastest way to earn Mythic Essence. You buy a pass and you gain at least 25 ME as you reach its tiers. You also open event capsules. After three capsules, you earn 5 ME, and after five, you earn 15 ME. You unlock 30 ME once you open twenty capsules. You claim masterwork chests next. You earn 5 ME every time you claim five chests, and you earn 10 ME once you hit twenty-five chests. You also score 10 ME every fifty summoner levels after level 150. You use all these routes together and you collect Mythic Essence at top speed.
