Minecraft tridents are strong weapons introduced in the Aquatic Update. Moreover, you can strengthen your trident by enchanting them with certain books. These enchantments improve the trident's strength, durability, and abilities. Using enchantments makes tridents very useful and powerful. This article will teach you about trident enchantments, their uses, and recommendations for the best choices.

    What are Minecraft trident enchantments?

Minecraft trident enchantments are special upgrades you can add to your trident. These upgrades give your trident new powers and make it stronger. Enchantments can improve your trident by:

    • Increasing its durability and making it last longer.
    • Boosting damage, especially against water creatures.
    • Allowing it to return automatically after throwing.
    • Summoning lightning strikes during storms.
    • Helping you move faster in water or rain.
    • Repairing automatically using experience points.
    • Making it disappear if you die.

    III

    Channeling

Channeling allows your trident to summon lightning when it hits a target during a thunderstorm. In Bedrock Edition, lightning can be summoned even during regular rain if you hit a lightning rod. Lightning can transform mobs. For example, creepers become charged creepers and villagers turn into witches. Channeling works only if your target has a clear sky above. It is especially useful for creating charged creepers, which drop items.

    Curse of Vanishing

Curse of Vanishing causes your trident to disappear forever if you die while holding it. Once your trident disappears, you can't get it back. This enchantment adds a risk to gameplay. To avoid losing it, store your trident safely, like in a chest or shulker box, before dangerous adventures. Players who enjoy challenges might use this enchantment for added excitement.

    Impaling

Impaling increases the damage your trident deals. In Java Edition, it only boosts damage against water mobs like squids, turtles, and guardians. In Bedrock Edition, it increases damage against all mobs if they are in water or rain. Each enchantment level greatly increases damage. Impaling is very effective for underwater fights and helps defeat tough enemies quickly.

    Loyalty

Loyalty makes your trident return to you automatically after throwing it. Higher levels make it return faster. This enchantment is perfect for long-distance combat because you don't have to pick up the trident after each throw. It ensures your trident always returns safely, so you won't lose it during combat or exploration.

    Mending

Mending repairs your trident automatically using experience points you collect. This means your trident doesn't wear out quickly. Every time you collect experience orbs from defeating mobs or mining, the trident repairs itself. It saves you from constantly crafting new tridents or repairing old ones.

    Riptide

Riptide helps you move faster by launching you in the direction you throw your trident. This only works if you're in water or it is raining. Riptide is very useful for quickly traveling in oceans or rivers. It also helps reach high places easily. Combining Riptide with elytra wings allows you to fly faster and higher during rain.

    Unbreaking

Unbreaking makes your trident last longer by reducing the chance it loses durability when used. Every time you throw or use the trident, it might not lose durability because of Unbreaking. This enchantment helps your trident remain useful much longer.

What are the best enchantments for a trident in Minecraft?

There are seven enchantments for trident in Minecraft and the best one depends on what you are looking for. Here are some of the most used trident enchantments based on their use cases:

    • Mending: Very helpful for keeping your trident in good shape. It repairs itself automatically using experience points, so you don't need to fix it manually.
    • Impaling: Ideal if you often fight in water. It significantly increases your damage output, making battles easier.
    • Loyalty or Riptide: Choose Loyalty if you use your trident for long-distance attacks. It always returns after throwing. Pick Riptide if you explore oceans or need fast movement during rain.

The best enchantments depend on how you plan to use your trident.

Is Riptide or Loyalty better for trident?

The choice between Riptide and Loyalty depends on your needs:

    • Riptide is better if you spend lots of time exploring oceans or want quick travel during rain. It helps you move faster and reach higher areas.
    • Loyalty is better if you prefer attacking enemies from far away. It always returns your trident safely.

Beginners or players without falling protection should choose Loyalty first. This reduces the risk of losing the trident in dangerous places like the End.

What trident enchantments cannot go together?

Some enchantments can't be used on the same trident because their effects conflict. The incompatible enchantments are:

    • Channeling and Riptide: Riptide keeps the trident in your hand, so Channeling can't trigger lightning.
    • Loyalty and Riptide: Riptide tridents don't leave your hand, so Loyalty isn't needed.

Can you put Riptide and Impaling on a trident?

Yes, you can enchant a trident with both Riptide and Impaling. These enchantments work well together. Riptide moves you quickly through water or rain, improving mobility. Impaling makes your trident stronger, especially against water-based enemies. Using both enchantments allows you to fight effectively while exploring quickly. This combination is powerful for underwater combat and rapid travel.
