VALORANT players with dual monitors often deal with the game opening on the wrong screen. This is obviously not something we want to see, especially during competitive matches. Did you know that simple steps can solve this problem, helping you focus on your matches without distractions? By adjusting a few settings, you can make sure the game always launches on the right monitor and avoid interruptions.

How to get VALORANT to open on primary monitor

If VALORANT opens on the wrong monitor, you can fix this by setting your desired monitor as the primary display. Here is how to do it:

Open Display Settings

  1. Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
  2. A screen will show all your monitors. Click on the monitor you want to use.

Make It the Main Display

  1. Scroll down and check the box that says Make this my main display.
  2. This tells your computer to prioritize this monitor for games and apps.

Restart VALORANT

Close VALORANT and launch it again. It should now open on your primary monitor. If this doesn’t work, check that your settings saved correctly. Updating your graphics drivers can also help solve the problem. Here are some additional tips if you are still having trouble:

Resolution Issues

Some players prefer a stretched resolution, while others go with the default settings. If the game displays at the wrong resolution, check your monitors’ settings. Both monitors should use compatible resolutions.

Cable Connections

Make sure your monitors are plugged into the correct ports on your GPU. Improper connections can cause confusion.

Reset VALORANT Settings

If none of the above works, reset VALORANT’s configuration file. Locate the settings folder, back it up, and let the game create a new one. If you own an NVIDIA GPU, you can also change your NVIDIA Control Panel settings for VALORANT.

How to move VALORANT to another monitor

Sometimes you may want to play on a different monitor without changing your primary display. You can do this quickly:

Start the Game

Launch VALORANT, even if it opens on the wrong monitor.

Switch to Windowed Mode

  1. Press Alt + Enter to switch the game to windowed mode.
  2. Drag the game window to the monitor you want to use.

Go Back to Full-Screen Mode

After moving the window, press Alt + Enter again to switch back to full-screen mode.

This method lets you use any monitor without changing your system settings. If you want this change to stay permanent, adjust the settings inside the VALORANT menu. Open the game settings, go to the Video tab, and select your preferred monitor.

How to get VALORANT to open on second monitor

If you prefer VALORANT to always open on your second monitor, follow these steps:

Set the Second Monitor as Primary

  1. Open Display settings on your computer.
  2. Select your second monitor and click Make this my main display.

Launch VALORANT

Start the game after saving your settings. It will now open on your second monitor.

Change Back if Needed

After you finish playing, you can reset your primary monitor in Display settings.

If this does not work, try updating your GPU drivers. Compatibility issues can sometimes cause the game to ignore your monitor settings.
