The latest update from Epic Games introduces a fresh cosmetic layer in Fortnite: Sidekicks. These small companion pets follow you through Battle Royale, Creative, LEGO Fortnite and more. This article explains what Sidekicks are, how they work, and provides the full list and more!

What are Sidekicks and how do they work in Fortnite?

Sidekicks are cosmetic companions. They stay by your side during matches and move around with you. You can use them in Fortnite Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Save the World, and many Creative experiences.

They don’t give any in-game advantage. Enemies cannot see them, and they don’t take damage. Sidekicks react to what happens around you and can perform simple actions through Sidekick Emotes. For more information, don’t forget to check out our comprehensive guide about Fortntie Sidekicks!

You can name your Sidekick anytime, but you can change its appearance only once. If you want a different look, you must buy the same Sidekick again in another variant. Because of that, you should always check the preview before confirming your customization.

    All Fortnite Sidekicks and prices

There are seven Sidekicks in Fortnite so far. Some come from the Battle Pass, and others are available in the Item Shop. Here’s the full list with prices:

Epic Games plans to add more Sidekicks in future updates. Some may even come from upcoming collaborations, like the recent Simpsons crossover.

How to get and use Sidekicks

You can get Sidekicks in two main ways: through the Battle Pass or the Item Shop. After you unlock or purchase one, go to your Locker and equip it.

To customize, open the Sidekick menu. Choose your Sidekick’s color, pattern, and other visual options. Remember, once you confirm these changes, they stay permanent for that Sidekick.

If your Sidekick doesn’t show up, try restarting Fortnite. Some players report that Sidekicks disappear from the Locker or don’t appear in certain modes. These issues usually happen because of shop updates or limited mode compatibility. You can also check if the mode supports Sidekicks before starting a match.

    Why are Sidekicks popular?

Sidekicks make Fortnite more personal. They let you express your style without affecting your performance. They also add humor and variety to gameplay, especially for streamers and casual players.

Many players like collecting them because each Sidekick has a unique design and personality. Having a companion that reacts to the environment makes matches more dynamic and fun to watch.

However, some fans think Sidekicks are expensive. Prices range between 1,200 and 1,500 V-Bucks, which is similar to full character skins. Players also criticize the one-time customization rule, saying it limits creativity.

Still, the feature is new, and Epic Games is likely to improve it. More Sidekicks, variants, and bundle options could arrive soon.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
