Fortnite App Store return confirmed worldwide except for one country
Fortnite finally returns to iPhonesThe long-running battle over the Fortnite App Store ban has entered a new stage. On May 19, 2026, Epic Games officially announced that Fortnite is back on the App Store “around the world” as its legal and regulatory fight against Apple continues.
The return of Fortnite to iPhone and iPad devices marks one of the biggest moments in mobile gaming history. After nearly five years off iOS, players can once again download Fortnite on Apple devices in many regions. However, Epic Games says the conflict with Apple is far from over.
Epic now describes the situation as the “final battle” over App Store fees, payment systems, and Apple’s control of the iPhone ecosystem.
Reminder: Why Fortnite was removed from the App Store
The Fortnite App Store controversy started in August 2020.
At the time, Apple required all iOS developers to use Apple’s payment system for in-app purchases. Apple charged commissions that could reach 30% on digital transactions.
Epic Games challenged those rules by adding its own direct payment option inside Fortnite. Players could buy V-Bucks through Epic Games at lower prices instead of using Apple’s payment system.
Apple responded quickly by removing Fortnite from the App Store.
Epic Games immediately filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming the company had too much control over app distribution and digital payments on iPhones.
The legal dispute became one of the most important tech industry battles of the decade and now it's about to end.
Fortnite App Store return confirmed worldwide
According to Epic Games, Fortnite has now returned to App Stores worldwide except Australia. Epic noted that Australia is still excluded because of ongoing disputes over Apple’s payment policies.
The company said players can once again access Fortnite on iPhones and iPads through approved App Store systems and Epic’s own distribution methods in supported regions.

This means the Fortnite App Store rollout is not completely global yet.
Still, the return represents a major win for Epic Games after years of legal battles and regulatory pressure.
Epic Games says Apple charges “Junk Fees”
Epic Games used the announcement to continue criticizing Apple’s App Store business model.
In its official statement, Epic accused Apple of forcing developers to pay unfair “junk fees” through the App Store system.
Epic also claimed regulators around the world are closely watching the case to decide whether Apple’s commission structure should continue.

The company argued Apple may eventually have to reveal the real operational costs behind the App Store. Epic believes those numbers could increase global pressure on Apple and lead to stricter regulations.
The company wants long-term changes to how the App Store operates.
Fortnite returned to the US App Store in 2025
Fortnite first returned to the US App Store in 2025 after nearly five years away from iOS devices.
The process was difficult.
Epic Games accused Apple of delaying Fortnite approval and blocking updates during the review process. The company even asked courts to force Apple to process Fortnite submissions faster.
Now, in 2026, Epic says Fortnite has expanded back to App Stores across multiple countries worldwide.
