Who is The Hedera in Hytale Endgame & QoL mod and how to defeat it
The Hedera in Hytale can be confusing at first, because it is a major swamp boss in the current Endgame & QoL mod on CurseForge. It is stronger, harder to defeat, and obviously more fun to fight. In the current mod setup, players use the Swamp Dungeon Key rather than older shard names, then push through the swamp dungeon to reach Hedera. This guide goes over everything you need to know about The Hedera boss in Hytale!
Who is The Hedera in Hytale?
The Hedera is a Hytale mob with the in-game identifier Hedera. It is a creature that can be saved as a Memory, can be mounted, and can spawn at night. Its listed base properties include 226 health and 12 blocks per second movement speed. In the current Endgame & QoL content, Hedera also appears as a much larger boss encounter inside the swamp progression path.

How to find and defeat The Hedera
The Hedera is the main boss of the Swamp Dungeon in the current CurseForge mod version. To reach it, you first need to unlock the swamp stage, which is a specific Hytale zone, craft the Swamp Dungeon Key, and enter the dungeon. From there, the route is less about running straight to the boss and more about exploring carefully, collecting materials, and opening the next step of the dungeon.

How to find The Hedera
The best way to find The Hedera is to follow this order:
- Upgrade your Endgame Bench to Tier 3: This is the point where the swamp dungeon path opens up in the mod’s progression.
- Craft the Swamp Dungeon Key: This is the correct entry item in the current version of the mod.
- Enter the Swamp Dungeon and explore the area: The dungeon uses poison, fog, locked sections, swamp enemies, and chest loot. You need to move through it carefully instead of rushing ahead.
- Find the Hedera Autel: This is the key station inside the dungeon. You use it to craft the Hedera Key from five swamp dungeon ingredients.
- Use the Hedera Key to push into the boss fight: Recent versions of the mod also add map markers for important swamp materials and the Hedera Autel, so finding the route is easier than it was in older builds.
How to prepare for The Hedera fight
Before the fight, make sure your setup is ready. The mod specifically warns players not to wear Prisma armor here, because Hedera deals double damage to it. Bring strong healing, bring mana support, and bring the Frostbite Blade if you have it, because the mod lists it as a direct weakness against Hedera.
How to defeat The Hedera
The Hedera fight has three phases, and each one gets more dangerous.
Phase 1: Nature’s Wrath
This phase teaches you the fight. Hedera uses root-based control and can lock you down if you stay too close for too long. Focus on movement first and damage second.
Phase 2: Toxic Bloom
This is where the fight starts to punish mistakes. Poison pressure rises, the danger zone grows, and bad positioning becomes much more costly. Back off when the arena gets crowded and heal early instead of trying to force extra damage.
Phase 3: Death Blossom
This is the hardest part of the fight. Hedera adds stronger area control and summons extra pressure into the arena, so getting trapped can end the fight fast. Stay mobile, create safe angles, and only commit when you have space.
Once you beat The Hedera, the fight pays off right away. The boss drops Hedera’s Gem, which you use to upgrade the Endgame Bench to Tier 4. That makes Hedera one of the most important bosses in the swamp section, not just another optional fight for loot

Why is it important to take The Hedera down?
The fight matters because it blocks important progression. Hedera drops Hedera’s Gem and Essence of the Forest, and Hedera’s Gem is used to upgrade the Endgame Bench to the next tier. That makes this boss more than just a side challenge. It is part of the route into later crafting and stronger gear.

The boss can also drop the Hedera Seed accessory at a listed 15% rate in current mod notes. That accessory gives a chance to root enemies on hit, which fits the swamp theme and adds extra value if you want more than just the progression reward. So even after your first clear, Hedera can still be worth farming for gear goals and build options.
