Riot Points (RP) serve as the in-game currency for League of Legends and VALORANT, allowing players to unlock champions, skins, and most in-game items that can be purchased. While RP can be purchased with real money, there are several ways to earn them without the League of Legends Store, and those ways include ones in which you won’t have to spend a dime.

That’s right, there’s a couple of ways that you can earn free RP. In this guide, we will explore and elaborate on the various methods to obtain RP, the paid and even the free.

How to Buy Riot Points (RP) in League of Legends

Let’s start with the methods in which you have to pay money. It’s important to note that the following methods are both official, and of course, effective ways to purchase or earn RP.

First Method: League of Legends Store

This one is the vanilla method. No gimmicks. No maneuvers. Nothing but strictly buying RP the way Riot Games intended—the League of Legends Store. To do this, you’ll have to follow these steps:

    • Launch the League Client: Open the League of Legends client and log into your account.
    • Navigate to the In-Game Store: Once logged in, click on the "Store" tab located at the top of the client. This will take you to the in-game store.
    • Choose the Purchase Option: In the store, you'll find various tabs, including "Featured," "Skins," "Champions," and more. Look for the tab that says "RP."
    • Select the Amount of Riot Points: Within the RP tab, you'll see different packages of Riot Points available for purchase. Choose the amount that suits your needs. Common options include 575 RP, 1275 RP, and 2525 RP, among others. The bigger the package, the bigger the bonus RP you’ll receive for buying it. It’s important to note that the amounts vary depending on your choice of payment method.
    • Choose a Payment Method: After selecting the desired amount, you will be prompted to choose a payment method. League of Legends supports various payment options, including credit/debit cards, PayPal, and other regional payment methods.
    • Enter Payment Information: Provide the necessary payment information based on your chosen payment method. This may include entering your credit card details or logging in to your PayPal account.
    • Confirm Purchase: Once you've entered the payment information, review your purchase details to ensure accuracy. Some payment methods may require additional verification steps.
    • Complete the Transaction: Click the "Purchase" or "Buy" button to complete the transaction. If the payment is successful, the Riot Points will be credited to your account almost instantly. If you don’t notice any change, you should restart the League of Legends Client.

    Second Method: Prime Gaming Capsules

Another safe and official way of obtaining RP via paying used to be having an Amazon Prime subscription. Each month, Riot Games releaseed in-game items for League of Legends and Wild Rift, including ‘Prime Gaming Capsules.’ These capsules were guaranteed to include: 350 RP, an Epic Skin Shard, Champion Permanent Shard, 30-Day XP Boost, and more. However, the partnersahip between Amazon and Riot Games ended a while ago.

Depending on which region you’re in, Amazon Prime could have been a sweet deal to gain multiple perks, occasionally free games, and most importantly, League of Legends RP and in-game loot. But if you already have an Amazon Prime subscription, visit the Prime Gaming homepage. Even though it is not available right now, it may come to life in the future, who knows!

How to Get Free RP in League of Legends

There aren't many honest ways of getting free RP in League of Legends. However, it's not something that's out of this world to get free RP. In this section, we'll mention a couple of methods that we found to be accessible and safe for you to try out. And don't worry; you don't need to compromise your Riot Games credentials. Nothing and no one will ask you for your credit card info, and you don't have to download any shady .exe files.

    Third Method: Microsoft Rewards

This one is an official way of getting free RP in League of Legends and even have it be redeemable in VALORANT as well. Let me introduce you to Microsoft Rewards, it’s a loyalty program launched by Microsoft that allows users to earn points for performing various online activities, and using Bing. This method may be free, but it comes with a cost; say goodbye to using DuckDuckGo or Google (or Yahoo if you’re a psychopath or a CIA Agent).

The way it works is that you earn points either by completing daily tasks—such as pop quizzes and puzzles—or using Bing as your search engine and getting 3 points for each search. After earning enough points, you can redeem them for a League of Legends Gift Cards. You can trade 6500 points with a 575 RP Gift Card, so it’ll take you some good time to collect these points, but hey, you look up stuff on the internet everyday, so why not benefit from it.

    Fourth Method: Tournaments and Competitions

If you’re confident enough in your skills as a League of Legends player, consider joining tournaments or competitions hosted by various organizations. In these tournaments you don’t usually need to be a part of official pro-play, so you don’t exactly need a professional team or something like that. Instead, you can gather your friends, or even go solo on 1v1 tournaments hosted on websites like Battlefy or Challengermode.

Some of these tournaments or competitions are played for money, and others are played for RP. However, it’s important to note that these tournaments, while mostly trustworthy, aren’t usually officially hosted or affiliated with Riot Games. So, it’s integral to the process of participation that you exercise caution. Moreover, do not compromise information like your credit card info, IP address, Riot Games credentials, and such.

How much RP do you get for $10?

When you spend ten dollars on Riot Points (RP), you receive 1,000 RP in most regions. Riot sometimes adds small bonus RP during special events, so keep an eye on limited-time deals. This base rate helps you plan your spending and unlock champions, skins, or boosts. If you aim for a specific skin bundle, check the in-client store before buying. That way, you know exactly how much RP you need and can avoid surprises.

How much is 1820 RP in League of Legends?

The 1,820 RP bundle costs about $20 at the standard rate. You buy two packs of 1,000 RP and use 180 RP from the second pack. Riot does not sell 820 RP on its own. You must pay for a larger pack or use bonus RP. A 2,200 RP pack for $20 covers the 1,820 RP and leaves you with extra.

How much RP is a $50 card?

A $50 RP card delivers 5,500 RP. Riot sets the rate at 1,000 RP per $10 and awards 500 RP extra on the $50 tier. You spend this total on high-tier skins, battle passes, or multiple smaller items. Buying during seasonal promotions gives you more bonus RP and helps you reach purchase goals faster.

In conclusion, these were the most effective ways to gain RP in League of Legends. You’re free to experiment with different methods to try and maximize your RP balance. Hopefully, now you’re either able to purchase the items that you want or you’re multiple steps closer to doing so.
