Fortnite keeps updating its game with new features, and one of these features is SHADOW  Briefings, introduced in Chapter 5, Season 2. These terminals are all over the battle island. They give players tasks and quests that make the game more engaging. Each season brings new types of these briefings, like the Armory version in the current Absolute Doom season. It can be hard to locate all the SHADOW Briefings across your new Fortnite map but we have got you covered. Here is everything you need to know about Fortnite SHADOW Briefings in Chapter 5 Season 4!

What exactly are SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite and what do they do?

SHADOW Briefings are interactive objects found across Fortnite’s Battle Royale map. They first appeared in Chapter 5: Season 2. They look like small white notebooks on the map.

SHADOW Briefings are terminals located around the map. They come from the SHADOW organization. Players can interact with these terminals to get a challenge. They can choose to accept the challenge to earn rewards. The challenges vary, but they always involve a task that needs completion within a certain time. If a player fails to complete the task on time, they hear a ticking clock sound followed by a "FAILED" warning.

Each SHADOW Briefing is unique and occurs once per match. This means that players can accept a challenge from each briefing once in every game. This system adds an important layer of strategy to the gameplay. Players need to decide which challenges to take on as part of their game strategy.

All SHADOW briefings in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4

In the current season, Chapter 5 Season 4, players can find five different types of SHADOW Briefings. Each type offers a different challenge:

    • Armory: Players must complete a task using one of four specified weapons.
    • Bounty: Players need to eliminate a specific enemy player within a time limit.
    • Plunder: Players must dig up buried rare chests at certain locations.
    • Supply Drop: Players have to secure a supply drop that lands at a specific spot.
    • Vehicle: Players are challenged to drive a vehicle over a certain distance.

    How to accept SHADOW Briefings

Accepting a SHADOW Briefing is simple. Players need to find a SHADOW terminal on the map. Once they find it, they can accept the briefing by spending

    • 100 gold bars. This starts the challenge. The challenges vary:
    • Bounty: Sets a bounty on a nearby player.
    • Vehicle: Spawns a vehicle nearby.
    • Supply Drop: Starts a supply drop nearby.
    • Buried Treasure: Shows locations on the map where players can find buried chests.

    Are SHADOW briefings randomly placed?

SHADOW Briefings have fixed locations on the map. They are not placed randomly. Each briefing is marked clearly on the map as a small white notebook. This helps players plan their moves and routes around these briefings. However, you need to find all the SHADOW Briefings yourself or check the internet and find a map just like the one we have above. Scroll up and check out the map. This way you will easily travel all around the map and take all the SHADOW Briefings that you may need.

Why can't I find any shadow briefings in Fortnite?

You're likely not seeing any Shadow Briefings in Fortnite (also stylized SHADOW Briefings) simply because you're searching in the wrong spots—or they didn't spawn in your match. These special in-match challenge terminals appear only at certain locations and don’t pop up every time you play.

So, you’re not alone in getting confused by Shadow Briefings—but rest assured:

    • They don’t spawn every match, only in certain locations.
    • They show up as a laptop icon on your HUD.
    • You must interact to accept them, then complete within a time window.
    • Bounty style ones were removed; only Armory, Plunder, and Supply Drop remain.
    • Focus on well-known spawn zones like Resistance Base, O.X.R HQ, and others outlined in recent maps and guide articles.

Is the SHADOW series in Fortnite rare?

The SHADOW Series in Fortnite is one of sixteen rarity types in the game. It includes items that are shadow and darkness-themed. These items are usually in dark shades of black and grey with bright white details. They stand out visually and can be rare.

It is important to understand SHADOW Briefings. These briefings lead to special rewards and help players get more involved in the game’s story. As the game keeps changing, knowing how to handle these briefings will help you stay ahead in the battle royale. Onur Demirkol here, content writer for THESPIKEGG. I have been around for a very long time now, you may have seen me in the comments.

I started writing here in 2021, but my first gig was back in 2018. That was when I realized people actually get paid to write about games. I’ve written thousands of articles for different media outlets, led teams, and conducted interviews with players.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
