Fortnite Sprite Resummon is still available in Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, so losing a Sprite during a Battle Royale match doesn't mean you've permanently lost it.

The system has changed since Season 3: Runners, though. Override introduced a new generation of Sprites, new variants, a fresh Sprite Dust economy, and the Sprite Garden for your previous collection. Epic also reduced the Sprite Dust cost of summoning rare Sprites and variants and shortened the time you need to hold the Summon button.

Here's how to resummon Sprites in Fortnite, how much Sprite Dust matters, what happens to your Sprite's level, and how the system works in Season 4.

How to resummon Sprites in Fortnite

Once you've successfully collected a Sprite, you can resummon it between matches using Sprite Dust. Resummoned Sprites return at Level 1, so you'll need to level them again.

1. Finish your current match and return to the Battle Royale lobby.
2. Open your Sprite Collection.
3. Find the Sprite you previously collected and want to bring back.
4. Select that Sprite and choose Summon/Equip.
5. Hold the Summon button and spend the required Sprite Dust.
6. Queue for your next Battle Royale match with your Sprite ready to use.

Epic shortened the Summon button hold time in Chapter 7 Season 4: Override and reduced the Sprite Dust cost for rare Sprites and variants.

The key requirement is that the Sprite must already be secured in your collection. A Sprite found during a match isn't permanently yours until you successfully extract it (or otherwise bank it through an eligible method).

Cost

Rare Sprites and special variants can cost more Sprite Dust, although Epic reduced their summon costs for Season 4.

Epic's Season 4 update notes also specifically state that summoning rare Sprites and variants costs less Sprite Dust and that the Summon button now requires less hold time. That's direct confirmation that summoning remains an active mechanic in Override.

What happened to Season 3 Sprites?

Your old Sprites weren't deleted when Runners ended.

Instead, Season 3 Sprites were moved into the Sprite Garden, where you can play with your collection, visit friends' gardens, and show off the Sprites you collected previously. They also remain part of your Sprite Collection.

Season 4 introduced a new generation for current Battle Royale gameplay.

Epic has also said Sprites from previous generations may return in the future, potentially giving players another opportunity to use them in Battle Royale.

How do you unlock a Sprite for resummoning?

Finding a Sprite isn't enough. You need to secure it as part of your collection before you can reliably summon it again later.

When you find a Sprite during Battle Royale, extract it using an Extraction Site or Portable Extractor. Once successfully extracted, it becomes registered to your collection and can subsequently be summoned from the lobby.

If you're eliminated before securing a newly discovered Sprite, you don't get to treat that encounter as a permanent unlock.

This makes extraction especially important when you find a rare Sprite or valuable variant.

What is Sprite Dust used for?

Sprite Dust remains the main currency connected to Sprite progression in Override, but it has more uses than before.

Do resummoned Sprites keep their level?

No. A resummoned Sprite returns at Level 1.

This is an important distinction between your collection unlock and the Sprite's current match progression.

Once you've secured the Sprite, you retain access to that collection entry. However, if you lose the Sprite and spend Dust to summon it again, you'll need to level it again from Level 1.
So resummoning saves you from having to rediscover that Sprite, but it doesn't restore its previous level.

How to avoid losing a rare Sprite

When you find a rare Sprite or variant that isn't already secured in your collection, extracting it should usually be your priority.

Don't treat carrying a Sprite and owning it as the same thing. Get it extracted first, then worry about taking unnecessary fights.

Once it's secured, losing it is much less painful because you can spend Sprite Dust to summon it again.

This matters even more with rare variants, where finding another copy could take significantly longer than rebuilding your Dust balance.

Can you resummon Season 3 Sprites in Season 4?

Your Season 3: Runners collection is preserved in the Sprite Garden and Sprite Collection, but Season 4 uses a new generation of Sprites for current Battle Royale gameplay.

Don't confuse seeing an old Sprite in your collection with that Sprite necessarily being available to bring into the current Battle Royale season.

Epic has left the door open for previous generations to return later.

Why can't I resummon my Sprite?

If the Summon option isn't working, check these possibilities first:

• You don't have enough Sprite Dust for that Sprite or variant.
• You found the Sprite but didn't successfully secure it to your collection.
• You're trying to use a Season 3 Sprite that isn't part of the active Season 4 Battle Royale generation.
• You're looking in the wrong menu; summoning is handled through the Sprites screen in the lobby.
• Fortnite has received an update that changed the Sprite's availability.

Remember that rarity matters. Your Dust balance might be enough for one Sprite but not enough for a more expensive variant.
