Fortnite has returned to mobile devices in the U.S. and Europe, ending a five-year standoff between Epic Games and Apple. This is a major moment for the Fortnite community, especially for players who have waited patiently to jump back into the game on their phones. To celebrate the return, Epic Games is giving away a brand-new skin called Burnoff, and it’s completely free. You don’t need to buy a Battle Pass or spend V-Bucks. So, how do you obtain it? Here is everything you need to know about the new Burnoff skin in Fortnite!

What is the Burnoff skin in Fortnite?

Burnoff is an Epic skin that Epic Games released to celebrate Fortnite’s return to iOS. It has a clean, white design and gives players two style options. You can wear the helmet or remove it. Burnoff is not tied to a Battle Pass, and it does not belong to any skin set.

In LEGO Fortnite, Burnoff appears as a minifigure. In Fall Guys experiences, it becomes a bean-style character. These modes change how the skin looks, but it still keeps its identity.

Burnoff is a reskin of Whiteout from Chapter 1 Season 5. It also shares some visual elements with Burnout and Redline, but it stands on its own.

How to get the Burnoff skin

To get Burnoff, you must log in to Fortnite on a mobile device before June 17, 2025, at 9 AM ET. This is the only way to unlock the skin.

Step 1: Download Fortnite on Mobile

    • iOS (U.S.): Use the Apple App Store.
    • iOS (EU): Use the Epic Games Store or AltStore.
    • Android: Download the game from the official Epic Games website.

Step 2: Log In with Your Epic Games Account

Open the game and sign in with your existing Epic account. If you do not have one, create a new account. Logging in will connect your mobile gameplay with your progress and skins from other devices.

Step 3: Find Burnoff in the Locker

After logging in, open the Locker tab. Look in the Outfits section. You should see Burnoff there. If it does not appear right away, restart the app and check again.

Once you claim the skin, you can use it on any device. This includes PC, console, and other platforms. The reward stays linked to your account.

Is Burnoff a rare skin in Fortnite?

Yes, Burnoff is a rare skin. You can only unlock it by logging into Fortnite on mobile during the limited time window. After June 17, 2025, it will no longer be available through this method.

Epic has not said if the skin will return later. Some past skins have come back to the Item Shop, but others have not. If Burnoff returns, it may cost V-Bucks. Right now, it is free, but only for mobile players who act before the deadline.

The skin is also notable for its style options and cross-game compatibility. You can use it in LEGO Fortnite and Fall Guys events, where its appearance changes. This makes Burnoff different from many other skins.

It also does not belong to any current skin set, and it was not part of a Battle Pass. All of this makes it more unique.

Can you get free skins in Fortnite?

Yes, Fortnite gives away free skins from time to time. These usually come from events, challenges, or special offers. Some are given during holidays like Winterfest. Others are part of promotions, such as Refer-a-Friend or subscription bonuses and some are rare skins.

There are also platform rewards. For example, PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass users sometimes get free cosmetic packs. However, most free skins do not last long. If you miss the event, you cannot get the reward unless Epic brings it back later.

Burnoff is one of the easiest free skins to claim. You do not need to complete challenges or win matches. You just need to log in on mobile. There is no level requirement or purchase needed.

But you must act fast. After the deadline, Burnoff may be gone for good or only return through the Item Shop.

I started writing here in 2021, but my first gig was back in 2018. That was when I realized people actually get paid to write about games. I’ve written thousands of articles for different media outlets, led teams, and conducted interviews with players.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
